What is BBFC?

My group and I decided to make our film

have a certification of 15. Having a
certification of 15 means that nobody
under the age of 15 will be able to view
the content in cinemas nor will they be
able to purchase it from shops. As a result
they will not be able to access our film.
However, this certification is suitable for
our target audience which is 15-35.

We chose this certification as our film has

themes of paranormal activities which
may distress younger audiences. The reason being is, we chose to make an innocent
baby the victim which younger viewers may find uncomfortable with. Although our
film doesnt contain derogatory or offensive language, but the mature topic of
someone causing harm to a baby is a sensitive topic which is why we chose not to
rate it a 12.

What might I see in a 15 rated film?

o Drug taking
o Nudity
o Discriminatory language or behaviour
o Sexual references
o Strong language

Thrillers:
It is common that thrillers
are rated at a certification
of either 12 or more likely 15,
this is due to the fact that
these ratings are typically
made for mainstream
productions that attract
mass audiences.
