GS 33Y05Q21-32E

GENERAL
The PRM Advanced Diagnostic function is an optional feature of the Plant Resource Management (PRM) package.
This function acquires parameter information required for diagnosis from devices connected to the FOUNDATION
eldbus and HART and can diagnoses plant equipment. The results of diagnosis are reected by PRM. Moreover,
device and unit diagnoses can also be performed using device parameter and process data.
Users can also create their own diagnostic applications using the PRM Advanced Diagnostic Application Software
Development Kit (PAA development kit NTPS220-S11, an optional package). Since the PAA development kit
includes standard sample diagnostic application templates, the diagnosis function is ready for use.

PRM Advanced Diagnosis Server

The PRM Advanced Diagnosis Server consists of an Advanced Diagnosis Server and a Device Diagnosis Data
Historian.
Advanced Diagnosis Server
This function executes the diagnosis registered in the Advanced Diagnosis Server.

Device Diagnosis Data Historian

The PRM server acquires data for device diagnosis via a eld communication server or an OPC server, and passes
the data to the diagnostic application. The acquired data can also be stored in the Diagnosis Historian Server as
historical data.

PRM Advanced Diagnosis Client

The Diagnosis client allows for dening acquisition data for diagnosis, monitoring the diagnostic status, registering
the diagnostic application, executing diagnosis, starting and stopping diagnosis, and starting and stopping data
acquisition. The client function of diagnosis are as follows.

DIAGNOSTIC DATA ACQUISITION

PRM server acquire Diagnostic data.
Data is acquired via a eld communication server or an OPC server. The data acquired for diagnosis is as follows.
Data required by the diagnostic application
User-dened data
Data dened in the acquisition denition le

Data Required by Diagnostic Application

When Diagnostic modules are started using the Diagnostic navigator, the data which are required for the Diagnostic
modules are automatically registered as acquired data.

User-dened Data
The user can register arbitrary data as acquisition data. Registration can be performed from the Diagnosis client.

Data Dened in Acquisition Denition File

Data dened in the acquisition denition le can be made acquisition data. The acquisition denition le is supplied
by the device vendor. Two types of acquisition denition les are used: a Device Viewer denition le supplied by the
device vendor and an acquisition le that can be modied by the user.

DIAGNOSTIC EXECUTION
Device diagnosis is individually performed for each diagnostic module. Starting and stopping of diagnosis is also
individually performed for each diagnostic module. Multiple diagnostic modules make up a diagnostic application.

DEVICE DIAGNOSTIC DATA HISTORIAN

Device Diagnostic Data Historian is the function to acquire and store diagnosis-related parameters. Parameter data
acquired by the diagnosis server can be stored as historical data. Data that is stored includes eld device parameters
and results obtained by calculations performed for diagnosis execution.

NOTIFYING DETECTED ERRORS TO USER

When an error is detected by diagnosis, the following methods are used to notify the user.
HIS Operation Guide Message
E-mail Notication
PRM Client Maintenance Alarm Message
Device Status Icons in Device Navigator of PRM client

BUILDING DIAGNOSTIC APPLICATION

PRM Advanced Application Software Development Kit (PAA Development Kit) allows the user to build his/her own
unique diagnostic application. PAA Development Kit also runs on the diagnosis server (PRM server). A diagnostic
application that was created is registered in the diagnosis server from the PRM client. PAA Development Kit includes
sample diagnoses. Diagnostic applications can be easily built by modifying and referring to these sample diagnoses.
The following sample diagnoses are included in the kit.
Upper and lower limit check
Area monitoring
Monitoring difference between multiple devices
Monitoring errors of automatic reciprocating compressor

MULTI-PURPOSE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL

When diagnostic application is created, graphical user interface (GUI) dedicated to it must be created at the same
time. The PRM Advanced Diagnosis server function includes a multi-purpose diagnostic tool that displays the past
data trend and thresholds. It is not necessary to create a dedicated diagnostic tool for simple diagnosis such as
threshold decision.
