Course Description: The General English program caters for students from
beginner to intermediate levels. It develops speaking, listening, reading and
writing skills for a range of everyday contexts. Students progress through
the levels according to their performance and may wish to move into the
Academic English program after Level 4.

Course Description: The Academic English program caters for students
from intermediate to advanced levels. It aims to prepare students for
university study at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It prepares
students for academic tasks, text types and skills that they need to be
successful at university in Australia.

Academic Writing

Course Description: This 5 week program is offered before the 10 week
direct entry programs, to students who require extra help with writing. This
program is also designed to develop reading, listening and speaking skills.
However, there is a strong focus on developing each student’s writing skills.
Entry requirements: Assessed on IELTS result or by CME Placement Test.
Study Skills English Preparation Program (SSEPP)

Course duration: 5–30 weeks
Course Description: This 10 week program prepares students for
certificate and diploma courses at the Sydney Institute of Business and
Technology (SIBT). The course focuses on developing the language skills
required for successful study in an academic context.
Entry requirements: IELTS 5.0 overall, with 5 in Writing and an offer
from SIBT.
Direct Entry English Program (DEEP)

Course Description: This direct entry program enables students
to gain the English language requirements for successful participation in a
range of humanities and science-based courses at Macquarie University.

Course Description: This 7 week program is an intensive university
preparation program which covers the same amount of content as the
10 week direct entry programs but with an increased number of class
hours per week.
