2.

8 Create Blank Matrix


This function allows the creation of files or blank matrix with .ic1 or .img format; .ic2 or .geo
format.
Select the Create Blank Matrix function and a sub-menu appears :

The creation of a blank matrix can be done :
- either from a number of defined points
- either from an existing matrix (or an existing file)
- either from a matrix to convert
- either from the co-ordinates of the upper left corners and lower right corners and according
to a defined step
- either from the co-ordinates of the four corners and according to a defined step
- either from a Tile number
- either from a list of files.

2.8.1 From No of points


The creation of a blank matrix can be done from a defined number of points.

Procedures

1/ Select the Create Blank Matrix / From No of Points option (8 left button)
2/ Designate the path and the name of the matrix to be saved inside the following File loading
box.
Validate by pressing the Enter key.
3/ A dialog box opens :

4/ Indicate :
- the number of points in X : Nbpt X
(X-coordinate of the lower right corner - X-coordinate of the higher left corner / step)
- the number of points in Y : Nbpt Y
(Y-coordinate of the upper left corner - Y-coordinate of the lower right corner / step)

- the step in X and in Y : Step X (m) and Step Y (m)
- co-ordinates of the higher left corner : ulc X and ulc Y
You can inform the Info field (text comment various) and the Grid field (projection code).
5/ Run the creation of the matrix by clicking over the Create button.
To cancel the operation click over the Cancel button.
A message box indicates the end of the process :

6/ Close the message box by clicking over the OK button.
The blank matrix is created.

2.8.2 From Existing Matrix


The creation of a blank matrix can be done from an existing matrix.

Procedures

1/ Select the Create Blank Matrix / From Existing Matrix option (8 left button)
2/ Designate the existing matrix from which the blank matrix has to be created inside the
following File loading box
3/ The Input Value box appears and allows the user to modify the step size of the matrix to
create :

4/ Validate by clicking over the OK button.


To cancel the operation click over the Cancel button.
5/ Designate the path and the name of the matrix to create inside the following File loading
box. Validate by pressing the Enter key.

This box gathers the information concerning the existing matrix :
- the number of points in X : Nbpt X
(X-coordinate of the lower right corner - X-coordinate of the higher left corner / step)
- the number of points in Y : Nbpt Y
(Y-coordinate of the upper left corner - Y-coordinate of the lower right corner / step)
- the step in X and in Y : Step X (m) and Step Y (m)
- the co-ordinates of the higher left corner : ulc X and ulc Y
You can inform the Info field (text comment various) and the Grid field (projection code).
6/ Run the creation of the matrix by clicking over the Create button.

2.8.3 From Matrix to Convert


The creation of a blank matrix can be done from a matrix to convert.

Procedures

1/ Select the Create Blank Matrix / From Matrix to convert option (8 left button)
2/ Designate the matrix from which the blank matrix has to be converted inside the following
File loading box
3/ Indicate the step and the projection code to apply to the matrix in the following Calculate
Matrix box :

Validate and close the box by clicking over the OK button.


4/ Designate the path and the name of the matrix to create inside the following File loading
box. Validate by pressing the Enter key.

The blank matrix is created.

2.8.4 From 2 Corners


The creation of a blank matrix can be done from the co-ordinates of the upper-left and lower
right corners.

Procedures

1/ Select the Create Blank Matrix / From Corners option (8 left button)
2/ The Calculate Matrix box opens :

Indicate :
- the step (Step X (m) and Step Y (m))
- the co-ordinates of the upper left corner : ulc X and ulc Y
- the co-ordinates of the lower right corner : lrc X and lrc Y.
Use the Convert button to convert eventually the coordinates of the two corners from a
cartographic grid to another.
3/ Run the operation by clicking over the Create button.
To cancel the operation click over the Cancel button.
4/ Designate the path and the name of the matrix to be saved inside the following File loading
box.

2.8.5 From 4 Corners


The creation of a blank matrix can be done from the co-ordinates of the four corners.

Procedures

2/ Indicate :
- the step (Step X and Step Y ) in meters
- the co-ordinates of the upper left corner : ulc X and ulc Y
- the co-ordinates of the upper right corner : urc X and urc Y
- the co-ordinates of the lower right corner : lrc X and lrc Y
- the co-ordinates of the lower left corner : llc X and llc Y.
Use the Convert button to convert eventually the coordinates of the four corners from a
cartographic grid to another.
3/ Run the operation by clicking over the Create button.
To cancel the operation click over the Cancel button.
4/ Designate the path and the name of the matrix to be saved inside the following File loading
box.

2.8.6 From Tile Number


This function allows the creation of a blank matrix from a file text of matrix description
compatible with ARCINFO.

2.8.7 From File List


The creation of a blank matrix can be done from a list of files.

Procedures

1/ Select the Create Blank Matrix / From File List option (8 left button)
2/ Select the files from which the matrix will be created (press the keys Shift and Ctrl at the
same time to select several files) inside the following File loading box.
Validate by clicking over the OK button or cancel via the Cancel button.
3/ Designate the path and the name of the matrix to be saved inside the following File loading
box.
Validate by pressing the Enter key.
4/ A dialog box opens :

This box gathers the information concerning the existing matrix :

2.9 Insert Files
There is often a need to assemble maps in one file. This process is operated when the scan-
ner is not large enough to digitise the whole map or when the resulting image has to be
created from more than one map. The process of assembling images takes place after the
geocoding of every unit image in a common cartographic reference. The geocoded pieces
are inserted one after the other into a blank grid that describes the whole area.

The Insert Files function allows to gather several files in a global matrix.

Procedures

1/ Select the Insert files function (8 left button)


2/ Select the 8 bit matrix (.ic1 or .img) or the 16 bit matrix (.ic2 or .geo) which has to receive
the cartographic files inside the following File loading box.
The global matrix appears :

Desactivate the Insert all function by checking the box.


3/ Click over the button (8 left button)
Designate inside the following File loading box the 8 bit (.ic1 or .img) or 16 bit (.ic2 or .geo)
files to insert in the matrix (press the keys Shift and Ctrl at the same time to select several
files)
The matrix is displayed (red lines represent the contours of the files to insert in the matrix) :

4/ Run the insertion by clicking over the button.
The files are progressively inserted in the matrix.
5/ Once the operation completed, close the box by clicking over the button.

The button allows the direct access to a directory when inserting the files :
a. click over the button (8 left button).
b. the following Browse for Folder appears :

c. designate the directory of the file to insert


d. validate via the OK button
e. click over the button (8 bouton gauche)
f. the File loading box which corresponds to the previously selected
directory appears.

The button displays the files which are located behind the current image.

2.10 Consult SVR
This function allows to edit a file Server.
The file Server is used by the HTZ Lite 4.x application and is composed of one or several
Image files, of their associated Palettes and/or of one or several altimetric files and/or of one
clutter file.

Procedures

1/ Select the Consult SVR function (8 left button)

2/ Designate the file Server .svr to edit inside the following File loading box
3/ The dialog box opens :

The page Report displays the list of the files contained in the file Server.
The list is organised in 12 columns :
Code : files code
Nom : files name
CD : number of the CD Rom of the files
Code pays : files country code
Nb Pt X : files number of points in X
(X-coordinate of the corner lower right - X-coordinate of the left higher corner / step)
Nb Pt Y : files number of points in Y
(ordinate of the left higher corner - ordinate of the corner lower right / step)
Step X : step in X
Step Y : step in Y
ULC X : X-coordinate of the left higher corner
ULC Y : Y-coordinate of the left higher corner

Grid : files projection code
Observations : various text comments about the files.

This box presents several commands :

Deletes the files of the File Server.

Records the file Server under another name.

Validates and closes the box.

Closes the box without taking into account the modifications.

You can use the scrollers to move.


By clicking (8 left button) over the title of a column, the files may be reorganised according
to an ascendant or a descendant order.
Files can be selected, deleted and sorted according to criteria defined by the user.

To select files
Click (8 left button) over the file to select in the first column (Code).
To select more than one file :
- use the Shift key while clicking (8 left button) over a group of records, or
- use the Ctrl key while clicking (8 left button) to select several files found in different
places in the list.

To delete one or several files


1/ Select (8 left button) one or several files to be deleted
2/ Click (8 left button) over the Delete button
3/ The file(s) is (are) deleted in the list.

To sort the files


1/ Click over the Filter tab (8 left button)
2/ The dialogue box appears :

3/ In this box you may choose among two sort criteria that you want to apply :
- Extension : click in the boxes of the formats file that you want to display.
For example, to display the GEO files, click in the GEO box and de-click in the IMG, SOL,
IC1 and IC2 boxes.
- Telephone Code : with the keyboard, type in the field Code the country codes that you want
to display.
For example, to display the french country files, type 33 in the Code field.
4/ Click over the Report tab (8 left button)
5/ The view will display the files corresponding to the criteria chosen (GEO french files in
this example).

To cancel the sort


1/ Click over the Filter tab (8 left button)
2/ Click in all the boxes (GEO, IMG, SOL, IC1, IC2)
3/ Type 0 in the Code field
4/ Click over the Report tab (8 left button)

To record a file Server


1/ Click (8 left button) over the button
2/ Designate the path and the name of the file to be saved in the following File loading box
