Editorial Romeo and Juliet

Fate is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Fate is uncontrollable and can be

both positive and negative. Fate is not on Romeo and Juliets side. There are many

examples of this. How Juliet already had Paris waiting for her hand in marriage before

Romeo. How both Romeo and Juliet were meant for each other. Finally, how Juliet

awakens just after Romeo kills himself. Therefore, these are some reasons why fate

causes the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet.

Before Juliet meets and falls in love with Romeo, Paris is already waiting to marry Juliet.

Paris gets permission from Juliets father Capulet to marry her. Paris just needs to wait

a couple of years. Juliet did not know this at the time. The time of Juliets plan to marry

changes and she is told she will marry early. Lady Capulet is the one to tell Juliet that

she will marry Paris instead of being with Romeo, not knowing that Juliet is already

married to Romeo. Lady Capulet to Juliet: Marry, my child, early next Thursday morn,

the gallant, young, and noble gentleman, the County Paris, at Saint Peters Church,

shall happily make thee there a joyful bride. Juliet did not agree with this. Juliet could

not control that Paris wants to marry her and that her parents want her to marry him.

This is Juliets fate and she will do anything to not marry Paris. Juliet then fakes her

death to get out of Verona. To Romeo killing himself because Juliet is dead. Then to

Juliet killing herself because Romeo is dead. Therefore, the fate that Paris had already

been waiting to marry Juliet before Romeo met her is one of the reasons for the deaths

of Romeo and Juliet.

Romeos first love interest is Rosaline. When Romeo is with Benvolio, a Capulet servant

named Peter asks Romeo to read an invitation card about a Capulet feast. He notices

that Rosalines name is on it. He insists that he must go, not knowing that his

unexpected fate is to meet Juliet. As Romeo sneaks into the party masked, he sees

Juliet and goes up to her. They both instantly fall in love with each other. Montagues

and Capulets they are not suppose to get along but Romeo still wants to kiss Juliet.

Romeo to Juliet: If I profane with my un worthiest hand this holy shrine, the gentle fine

is this: my lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand to smooth that rough touch with a

tender kiss. This is the moment when fate allows Romeo and Juliet to first meet and fall

in love immediately. The fate that they met at first is positive, but then as Romeo

becomes banished from Verona there meeting becomes not so great. This is because

one cannot live without the other. Likely, the fate of Romeo and Juliet being true lovers,

is one of the many reasons that lead themselves to their ultimate deaths.

Finally, Juliet is told that she must marry Paris. Juliet goes to Friar Laurence and asks

for help. Friar Laurence creates a plan, that allows Juliet to be with Romeo. Part of the

plan is that a letter must be sent to Mantua. The letter is given to Friar John. Friar John

stops at a house to visit the sick. Since the authorities believe that the house may have

the plague Friar John was then put under quarantine, and they refuse to take the letter

to Romeo because it might carry the disease. Romeo then later hears from Balthasar

that Juliet is dead when she is really not. Romeo then goes to Juliets tomb, lies with her

and then kills himself. Right after Romeo kills himself Juliet awakens and Friar Laurence

arrives. After Friar Laurence leaves, Juliet then kills herself. If Romeo was to come just

a minute later the broken plan would have worked. Therefore, the fate of Romeo and

Juliet in this situation is unlucky and is one of the reasons to blame for there deaths.

In conclusion, Fate is to be carful of. Acts of fate lead to the dramatic deaths of Romeo

and Juliet. Firstly, the already arranged marriage between Paris and Juliet by Capulet.

Secondly, the meeting of Romeo and Juliet. Thirdly, when Romeo kills himself just

before Juliets awakening and Friar Laurences arrival. Overall Romeo and Juliets fate

is more negative than positive, and the people of Verona should do certain things to

help control their fate so this does not happen to them.
