11-year-old Pratyush Sharma secures first rank in National Science Olympiad

Pratyush Sharma, a Std. VI student of Atomic Energy Central School 4,

Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, secured the first rank in the International Science Olympiad
conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). He will be felicitated in Delhi on
the 31st of May, 2016, where he will be awarded a cash prize of INR 50,000.

The competition consists of two rounds, the first round is a written test and the
second round is an online test conducted in a designated computer centre.

All students can take part in this exam. Round One winners will receive a certificate and be given multiple
rankings like city rank, state rank and even international rank as students from all Asian countries can
participate in the competition. Round Two winners will be awarded a cash prize and will receive a merit
certificate and medals.

Pratyush has also made the following achievements earlier:

Won the Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES) for 2014-15. Was awarded INR 5,000, a citation
and a trophy.

Secured second rank in the 18th All India Open Mathematics Scholarship Examination 2014 by
IPM. Was awarded INR 5,000, a Trophy, and a Gold Medal.

Won Scholarship, Gold Medal, Merit Certificate in the Ganit Prabhutwa Spardha conducted by RECENT COMMENTS
Brihanmumbai, Pune, Nashik, Ganit Adhyapak Mandal.

29th Rank in Middle School Scholarship Exam. Manickam : Salute the parents of

Pratyush is the son of Dr. Kamal and Dr. Babita who are both PhD-holders and scientists at the Bhabha
Atomic Research Centre (BARC) in Mumbai. They have always encouraged him to appear for various Padma.c.s : nice story

When asked what he plans to do with the cash prize, Pratyush simply replied, I will give it to my
parents.
Pratyush is an avid fan of Cricket and his favorite Cricket player is Chris Gayle. He also enjoys playing chess
and carom, and reading Enid Blytons books.
