RATIONALE
Standard 2 of the ISLLC Educational Leadership Policy Standards identifies that an effective
leader develops assessment and accountability systems to monitor student progress. The Infant
Toddler Services of Riley Countys purpose is to enhance the development of infants and
toddlers with disabilities, minimize potential delays, and to build the capacity of the families to
meet the needs of their child with special needs as well as to build engagement. Since our
shared vision is to increase parent engagement and build the capacity of the family, finding ways
that allow us to identify how the child engages with the parent and how the parent responds to
the child help us identify specific strategies to ensure increased achievement in the area of
engagement and communication. I devised a 5-minute parent-child interaction form that helps to
gather baseline data and to identify family strategies that can increase parent-child interaction.
We can use this to help give parents a visual of where their child is at as well as showing growth
in the childs language over the months. I believe that this language data form supports this
standard because it provides a way for the educator and family to collaboratively develop and
implement learning goals and objectives. The data form is used to show progress over the
months. It helps monitor the progress and helps us revise our plans accordingly.

Standard 2 of the ISLLC Educational Leadership Policy Standards identifies that an effective
leader develops the instructional and leadership capacity of staff. I had an opportunity to attend a
workshop on a specific curriculum for autism and conduct a 4-hour in-service to my colleagues.
In addition, I presented a modified version of the in-service to a local daycare. My power point
that I created was part of both in-services. I believe that my in-service I developed supports this
standard because it helped build the instructional capacity of my colleagues and daycare
providers.
