Mercutio Slaughtered! Tybalt Dead!

Banished! The Families are in Flames!
Romeo tried to separate Mercutio and Tybalt.

Tuesday, May 31st, 1595-
Yesterday, in Verona, Italy,
Tybalt challenged Romeo to a
fight and Mercutio intervened.
When Romeo attempted to
separate them, Tybalt pierced his
sword through Mercutios chest.
Out of anger, Romeo avenged
Mercutio. The Prince arrived at
the crime scene and declared
banishment for Romeo. If he is
seen on the streets of Verona, he
will be killed. It was the right
decision to banish Romeo instead
of executing him.
The one who started the fight
was Tybalt and Romeo had no
interest in fighting. Romeo gently
tried to explain how the argument
was foolish and not worth
fighting for. However, he could
not create peace with Tybalt,
who was in a bad mood and
would not listen. A citizen heard
Benvolio tell the Prince of
Verona, Romeo, that spoke him
fair, bade him bethink how nice
the quarrel was and urged withal

your high displeasure. All this
uttered with gentle breath, calm
look, knees humbly bowd, could
not take truce with the unruly
spleen of Tybalt deaf to peace,
but that he tilts with piercing
steel at bold Mercutios
breastRomeo, he cries aloud,
Hold, friends! Friends, part!
Romeo considered both of them
as his friends and tried to make
peace by separating the two, but
it resulted in Tybalt killing
Mercutio. If Tybalt had listened
to Romeos advice, no one would
have died.
When Tybalt returned, Romeo got
revenge for killing Mercutio.
Mercutio was Romeos friend as
well as the Princes relative.
Another citizen heard Montague
tell Prince Escalus, Not Romeo,
Prince, he was Mercutios friend.
His fault concludes but what the
law should end the life of Tybalt
when he asked who was going to
take the blame for Mercutios
death. Montague believed that

Romeos crime did justice by
killing Tybalt. Even if Romeo did
not kill him, Tybalt would have
been executed for killing Mercutio.
The Prince took what Benvolio
and Montague said into
consideration and banished Romeo
instead of executing him.
In the late afternoon of Monday,
May 30th, 1595, Romeo was
challenged by Tybalt to a fight.
Instead, Mercutio fought for
Romeo and was killed. Romeo
avenged him and was banished
from Verona by Prince Escalus.
The day before, Prince Escalus
said, If ever you (Capulets and
Montagues) disturb our streets
again, your lives shall pay the
forfeit of the peace. In this case,
the rule was not followed
because Romeo avenged the
Princes relative. In the future,
this rule should be followed, but
the Prince should understand the
situation and then give an
appropriate punishment if a fight
happens again.
