Nalco General Purpose & Sewage Cleaner Program

Background:
The purpose of this report is to propose a group of products, which will cover the complete gambit of
general cleaning requirements through day-to-day maintenance on the rig. Cotemar is looking for a
product, which can be used for general cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing on all hard, non-porous
surfaces specifically those found in the general accommodation areas for the crew. Cotemar is also
looking for a solution to clean the sewage lines of foulant which builds up from the scale from the waste
water carried though the system pipe work.

Overview:
A general all purpose cleaner to be used in a marine environment must meet several criteria.
It must be environmentally safe to meet all requirements of shipboard operations complying with
all environmental legislation.
It must be versatile and effective in cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing in many different
applications.
Due to the limited room for stocks the product must be concentrated to prevent the need for
excessive stocks.
The product must contain a pleasant odor when applied.
Any treatment to clean and maintain the sewage lines on a vessel must meet the following criteria.
Effective in removing the scale which develops from the waste water.
Must not be toxic to the bio-mass in the sewage treatment plant.
Must continue to work over time once the treatment has been applied.

Chemical Treatment:
Described below is an overview of a Nalfleet Program designed to address both of the needs of Cotemar.

Nalfleet Sea Shield Multi-Clean:

This product is a unique, micro-emulsion mixture of paraffin solvent, water and natural citrus solvent
together with a synergistic blend of surfactants. Multi-Clean is a versatile ready-to-use microemulsion
cleaner formulated to meet environmental regulations all over the world. The product may be used for
various applications pertaining to degreasing, general cleaning of different difficult soils, disinfecting, and
deodorizing:
Accommodation areas such as Cabins, Mess Halls, Heads, Galley, or Lounges.
Floors or Floor plates
Engine Rooms or Offices
Deck and Bulkheads
Application is either neat or diluted via brush or sprayed. For stubborn stains allow product to remain in
contact with soil for 15 to 30 minutes before rinsing.

Nalfleet Sea Shield 79550 Toilet and Drain Treatment:

Nalfleet 79550 is a safe, ready to use natural liquid treatment for toilet and sewage pipework and
collection tanks. Nalfleet protects the sewage lines from becoming fouled with scale and other deposits
from the sewage waste water. The product accomplishes this in two ways: 1.) Enzymes found in the
treatment start digesting waste on contact, 2.) The bacterial spores begin colonization and spread
throughout the whole system continuing to consume the deposits and matter that have build up on pipe
surfaces. Nalfleet 79550 is effective in digesting all organic matter including paper products. It works
both aerobically and anaerobically to treat both waste above and below the water line. Benefits of the
program are:
Extremely effective in dissolving deposits even long after treatment has been dosed.
No harsh chemical to risk upsetting the biomass of the sewage system
Compatible with stainless steel ( no corrosive effects)
Supplied in 4X5 liter containers for easy storage
Application is direct to individual toilets with 150 ml.
