Unit 34 assignment 3 diary

I start this background off by using the rectangle shape tool

3 times to create 3 rectangles, 2 green ones on each side
and a grey one in the centre to represent the road with grass
on either side.

I am now adding a fence and road lines on to my background,

I will do this by using a .PNG image of a fence and pressing c-
T to transform the shape of my fence so it fits correctly. To
add the road lines I am going to use the rectangle tool again
and create a small white rectangle and I will right click this
layer and press duplicate layer, which creates another copy
of this rectangle so I can use it multiple times.

Next, I will adding smalls asset on to the background to fill the empty spaces such as grass
and racing flags to show on each end of the race track where the start and finish is.

More grass added onto the racetrack side. To import these file and click on File > Import
then I select my image when the image is on the canvas I press C-T to resize the image.
To finish off the background I will now again be adding more
asset images to fill up the empty blank spaces. The last
image I will include is a haystack in one of the fields beside
the racetrack. To import these file and click on File > Import
then I select my image when the image is on the canvas I
press C-T to resize the image.

Main animation back is now complete.

I started creating this first background by using the bucket
tool to fully paint the canvas blue to represent the sky.

I use the brush tool and change the colour selection to dark
green to represent grass and I tried to make the colour as
similar to the grass fields in the background I created earlier.
After id used the brush tool, it was time
for me to add .PNG grass images to fill
up the empty areas, To import these file
and click on File > Import then I select
my image when the image is on the
canvas I press C-T to resize the image.

To finish this scene background I went to google and

found .PNG cloud images and an image of a sun to add in
to the sky of the background. To import these file and click
on File > Import then I select my image when the image is
on the canvas I press C-T to resize the image.

Scene 1 background is now complete.

I am now creating the characters of my animation in Photoshop, both of my character will

look the same, but they will be different colours, 1 red the other blue.
I will start by using the oval tool in Photoshop and create an oval, which will be my
characters body.

I will now be creating the legs for my character.

To start I will be using the rectangle tool and creating two black rectangles, I will then move
and rescale then towards the bottom of my characters, body by clicking on C-T to resize and
rescale then put them in place.
I will now add shoes on to the leg of my character; I used a shoe image from internet, which
has no copyright on it I will import this image by going to file>import selecting the shoe image and
once in photohsop I will resize the shoes to a similar size to my characters leg by pressing C-T and
then once the leg is complete I can then duplicate the leg and use again for the other leg of my
character.

To duplicate the leg I right click on the leg layer and press duplicate layer after it is dulicated I press
C-T and flip the image horizontially.

This is now my character with both legs.

I will now be adding the arms to my character; this will be a very similar process to how I
created my legs for my character.
I will be starting by using the rectangle tool to create one arm and then I will duplicate this
arm so they are on both sides.

To finish the arm on my character I will now be adding hands on the end of each arm I will
do this by imported 2 images of hands into Photoshop by going to File> import and then
selecting both hands images. Once in photo shop I press C-T to resize and move each hand
to fit appropriately with the arms.
To complete my character I will be adding the facial features on to it. The eyes and mouth I
have ready to import will be to be imported in to Photoshop, I do this by going to file >
import and selecting the correct file. Once in Photoshop I can resize and scale this
appropriately in comparison to the scale of my character, I will do this by pressing C-T to
change the size.
My character is now complete.

It is now time for me to use this asset in Flash to create and produce my actual animation.
Firstly I open Flash and sleet a ActionScript 3.0 and set the frames per second of my
animation at 24 frames per second.
Now I will start the first scene for my animation.

I start by creating a new layer and naming it scene 1 background and to import my
background I go to File> import to stage and select my scene 1 stage background image.

Because I created all my animation background to the exact correct size I do not need to
make adjustment after importing them into flash, they are perfect sizing as soon as I import.
I will now be importing both my characters on to my animation and they will both be in
scene 1.
Firstly I make 2 new layer named blue character and red character and before I import
each character I will make sure that the image of my blue character will be imported onto
the blue character layer and the same goes for the red character and red character layer.
Once both my characters are imported, I will then select them layer and move them
accordingly next to each other by the starting line.
This is how my scene 1 will look.

I want my scene 1 to last for 5 seconds so because the animation will run at 24 frames per
second I need to work out how many frames 5 seconds is.
5 seconds is 120 to I will drag every layer from scene 1 from frame 1 all the way to frame
120.
I will do this by selecting every layer, which is involved, and a part of scene 1 and drag all
those layers to frame 120.

I will now be starting on scene 2 of my animation

Like how I started scene 1 I will be starting scene 2 by importing the background.
I will import the background by firstly creating a new layer and naming it scene 2
background.
Now I will import my background by selecting my scene 2 background layer going to
File>import to stage and selecting the background for scene 2, my background will be
straight on to the stage perfectly fitting because the sizing of the background is exactly the
same as the stage size used in Flash.

Now I will add both my characters at the start end (left side) of the stage. Like in scene 1 I
will have to create a layer for each individual character.
I created two new layers and name them Blue character scene 2 and red character scene 2.
Now before I import them to stage I select the red character layer before important my red
character so the correct character is on the correct layer.
Once both of my character have been imported on to the stage I select both of them and
move them to the starting point of my racetrack and both on opposite sides of the road /
racetrack.
The next part of my animation will be to add the food on the racetrack, which the characters
will eat as they are racing to give them energy.
I will add these images by going to File>import to stage and then resizing these food asset
props all the exact same size and place them along the racetrack.
Firstly, I will add the healthy race side of the track, which is fruit.
Once IV important them all I will change the size of them the entire place them along the
racetrack, this is how the racetrack will look once that lane is complete.

I will now do the same for the unhealthy food lane of the racetrack but I will be adding one
less object because the racer does not have enough energy to complete the whole track and
has to stop half way through.
This is how the unhealthy food section of the racetrack looks.

Now that everything is in place for scene 2, I can now start to animate the characters and get
them to race along the racetrack.
Before adding the movement tween on to both of my characters, I will first be converting
them in to a symbol.
To convert my characters and character layers in to a symbol I need to select both of my
character layers and right click, convert to symbol and save blue character as Blue and my
red character as Red.
Both my character are now ready to be animated to move across the stage.
The first character I will add the motion tween to is the red character.
I select the red character layer, right click on my red character and select create motion
tween.

Now because the Red character is the winner of my animation and makes it all the way to
the finish line I will drag my character all the way to the other side of the stage once motion
tween is turned on.
Once complete a purple line will be coming away from the character to show its path of
travel.

The motion tween for this character is now completed.

I will now do the same for the blue character however; because the blue character does not
make it to the finish line and loses the race, I will only do the motion tween around just over
half way of the racetrack.
Firstly, I select my blue character layer.

Once the correct layer is select, I will now right click on the blue character and select the
Create motion tween option.

Now the motion tween is selected I will drag this character just over the half way point of
the racetrack so that is as far as he will travel once the animation is played through.
Once the motion tween is complete, there you will see a line across the stage showing that
character travel path as the animation plays through.
Scene 2 is now complete, both my characters can run across the stage and makes the
appearance that they are racing.

I will now start on scene 3, the final scene of my animation.

Firstly, I will be adding the background for scene 3, which the setting of this background is a
close up of the racetrack finishing where the winning character will be awarded the trophy
for winning the race.
I create a new layer and called it Scene 3 background.

To import my background on to this correct layer I will first select this layer by clicking on it
and then going to File> import to stage and then selecting the correct image file in which is
my scene 3 background.
Once selected the background will go straight onto the stage and it will be sized and scaled
perfectly to the stage size since I put the resolution and canvas size exactly the same for my
scene 3 background and the animation stage size.

Now the stage and background is complete for the scene I will now add both of my character
to the scene, standing by the racetrack finish line.
I will first create 2 new layer, One called Blue character, the other will be named reed
character.
Using the same character files which I used in scene 1 I will import both character to their
assorted layer by going to File> Import to stage and selecting the Blue character and red
character .PNG images which I created in Photoshop.
Once both character are now imported to the stage I will now use the free transform tool
from the tool bar, the short cut for this tool is also Q.

I resized both characters to very similar scale and dragged them under the finish line.

This is how both character look within the final scene of my animation.

The final asset to add my animation is the winner trophy, which the winner of the race has
won.
Since the red character won the race in this case / animation, I will place the trophy on the
red character.

I start by creating a new layer in Flash, naming it Trophy.

Now I need to import my trophy .PNG image into Flash.
Firstly, I select the Trophy layer by simply clicking on it then
I go to File>import to stage find the trophy image file and selecting open.
Once my trophy image is in my animation and on the Flash stage, I will press Q to select the
Free Transform tool and will scale the trophy image down appropriately and in relation to
the size of my characters within this scene.

I have now dragged and moved the trophy image over the arm of the red character, the
character who won the race so it appears that he is holding his winners trophy.

Scene 3 is now complete along with the rest of my animation, here is an over view of what
the whole of scene 3, the final scene of my animation looks like.
