FromWikipedia,thefreeencyclopedia

AGoldbergpolyhedronisaconvexpolyhedronmadefromhexagonsandpentagons.
TheywerefirstdescribedbyMichaelGoldberg(19021990)in1937.Theyaredefinedby IcosahedralGoldbergpolyhedrawithpentagonsinred
threeproperties:eachfaceiseitherapentagonorhexagon,exactlythreefacesmeetateach
vertex,theyhaverotationalicosahedralsymmetry.Theyarenotnecessarilymirror
symmetrice.g.G(5,3)andG(3,5)areenantiomorphsofeachother.Aconsequenceof
Euler'spolyhedronformulaisthattherewillbeexactlytwelvepentagons.

Icosahedralsymmetryensuresthatthepentagonsarealwaysregular,althoughmanyofthe
hexagonsmaynotbe.Typicallyalloftheverticeslieonasphere.

Itisadualpolyhedronofageodesicsphere,withalltrianglefacesand6trianglesper
vertex,exceptfor12verticeswith5triangles.
