Debate Review (Mid Term)

Motion : This house will ban research whose aim is to investigate race-based
deficiences on a genetic level.

What I understand about the motion, the government is opposing the

investigation or expirement on deficiency that dehumanize certain and taking
away a human aspect or lifestyle of that particular race.

Opening governments points:

-To find the bad traits of a certain race
-Stereotype of a race deficiency
-Example: African men giving out less sperm
-Taking away individual empowerment
-Look and appreciate what they are instead on research tell what to fix
-The research will take away diversity in society

Closing Governments points:

-Bad perception towards certain race with deficiency
-Gettiing rid of stereotype
-Advanced technology cant fix the deficiency

Opening oppositions points:

-Relate a persons race behaviour to their entire race and genetic traits of a
person ( Not rational)
-Example: Mexican being a drug dealer, laziness of malay

Closing oppositions points:

-Research doesnt mean it will be proven
-Just an investigation to improve traits of a race and ethnics

From my point of view , I think this debate won by the government side because
I was convinced by the points argued by the government side. Moreover, this
research will stereotype ethnics and races and will make them feel disgrace and
embarassed with their own skin. I also believe that when someone believes that
their deficiency is because of their genes, they will make this an excuse and will
not make themselves better or to improve their state well being. Hence, we
should not make any investigation or research on this matter.
