Type of Family Structure:

The type of family is traditional family. It comprises the father, mother

and their children. Both of the parents have their work and they are married.

And the family is living in the same house.


General Family Relationship:

The family is living together and in good condition. Both the parents are

the one who decide about the health care of the family as well as the thing

involved in money matters. The couple is very particular to the education of the

students as well as for the health maintenance of each of the family members in

terms of food and immunization. They are also serious and responsible for their

roles as parents.

C. Home and Environment

1. Housing

a. Adequacy of Living Space

The house is enough for the family of four. It has two

rooms, one room is for the couple and one room is for
their two children. Their space is just enough for them.

The comfort room and cooking area is located inside

the house which is more convenient but really needs a

lot of space.

b. Adequacy of the Furniture

They own a refrigerator, radio, television, and dvd

player. They could also accommodate their visitors in

their sala set.

c. Presence of breeding sites of insects and rodents

We could find insects and rodents in their house, like

mosquitoes, flies and rats, they could be found in the

following:

stagnant water (pail, bottles, cans)

canals

well

dumped things

d. Kind of Neighborhood
Their neighbors are simple individuals like they are, and

living in a simple community where their house are

near from their neighbors.

e. Social and Health Facilities Available

In terms of social facilities, facilities near includes the

basketball court, school, chapel, and the heakth center

except for the barangay hall which is far from them.

The family is closely located with their neighbors and

could easily affirm their social relations.

f. Communication and Transportation Facility Available

The Barquilla family has their own television, radio,

cellular phone, and they are supplied with daily

newspaper. They also have their own tricycle for

transportation.

D. Health Status of the Family Members

The family is in good condition except for Mr. Barquilla, he has

diabetes and UTI. Common colds are also threatening to the family.
E. Values, Habits, Practices and Health Promotion, Maintenance and Health

Prevention

a. Immunization Status of the Family:

The children have acquired complete immunization.

b. Health, Lifestyle, Practices

With regards to their food intake, Mrs. Barquilla makes sure

that her children are acquiring complete nutrition their body

need.

c. Use of Protective Measures

To protect the family from insects, the family is using

insecticides to control them.

d. Presence of Accident Hazards

They are located in a deep well which is uncovered and

open canals.

e. Food Storage

Foods are stored in the refrigerator and left over are left in

the table covered.


f. Cooking Facilities

They use LPG to cook their foods.

g. Water Supply

For washing their clothes, bathing, dishwashing, and other

household chores, the family uses the water from the deep well.

They store the water in containers. For drinking, their source is

rain water and placed in a water purifier. The deep well is also a

source of other residents.

h. Toilet Facility

Their type of toilet is water sealed and it is located inside

their house. Their toilet is in good condition in terms of structure

and sanitation.

i. Garbage Disposal

Burying is the means of disposing their garbage.

j. Drainage System

They drain their water in an open canal and other goes

directly to the ground.


k. Lighting Facilities

The house of the family is powered by electricity.

1. Threat of cross infection from a communicable disease

Common colds are present in the community and anytime could

invade the health of the family especially the children.

Houses are closely located together which contributes greatly to

the spread of infection.

2. Threat from breeding places of insects and rodents

Stored water are scattered outside the house for future use.

Stagnant water could be a breeding place of insects particularly the

mosquitoes.

3. Presence of insects and rodents

Mosquitoes and rats are present in their house which is really

threatening to the health of the family.

Insects and rodent are harmful pests that could be dangerous to

the family.

B. HEALTH DEFICIT

1. Diabetes

One member of the family is diabetic particularly the father.


2. Urinary Tract Infection

The father, Mr. Barquilla have also Urinary Tract Infection.

Inability to provide a home environment which is conducive to

health maintenance and personal development due to:

a. Ignorance for the preventive measures

b. Lack of protection from infection due to close housing

structure.

Inability to recognize the presence of the problem due to:

a. Inadequate knowledge regarding the importance of

proper sanitation and preventive measures in getting rid of

insects.

Inability to make decisions with respect to taking appropriate

failure to break down problems into manageable units of
