Standard 1 - The physically literate individual demonstrates competency in a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. Teaching foundational movements and adding on to the students movement vocabulary. Standard 2 - The physically literate individual applies knowledge of concepts, principles, strategies and tactics related to movement and performance. Teaching and quizzing the names of all of the movements and correlating movement families. Standard 3 - The physically literate individual demonstrates the knowledge and skills to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity and fitness. Students have a good foundation to train on their own Standard 4 - The physically literate individual exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others. Teaching communication, etiquette and team work. Standard 5 - The physically literate individual recognizes the value of physical activity for health, enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and/or social interaction.

Teaching about the many benefits of Physical Education.

From your online reading (Rink, 2014) consider the three learning domain objectives. For each national physical education standard determine which learning domain best relates to the national standard. Provide rationale for your selection.

Standard 1 relates to the psychomotor domain because it deals with motor skills.

Standard 2 relates to the cognitive domain because it is more about tactics and strategy.

Standard 3 relates to the psychomotor domain because it deals with maintaining fitness outcomes.

Standard 4 relates to the affective domain because it deals with social behavior

Standard 5 relates to the affective domain because it deals with values and feelings.

b) Career Standards and Objectives: As a professional it is important to understand and follow the standard of care and guidelines for your chosen career. Go the week 2 “bonus resources” and carefully review your selected careers professional standards/Code of Ethics. Select what you believe are the top three most important standards. Briefly describe in your own words your Kinesiology career goal, which standards you reviewed, and what you believe are the three most important standards (with citations). Provide strong rationale for your choice. (max ½-1 page)

I believe the most important standards for a director of physical therapy are Staffing, Physical Setting and Pilicies/Procedures. APTA’s standard 2C , the staffing standard, states that the physical therapy personnel affiliated with the physical therapy service have demonstrated competence and are sufficient to achieve the mission, purposes, and goals of the service. This is very important in order to help the clients. In any field if the staff are under educated or giving unsafe recommendations they can hurt people. The goal of Physical Therapy is to get people out of pain so it is

therapy service. The equipment is safe and sufficient to achieve the purposes and goals of Physical Therapy. Once again, as a physical therapist we must have safe equipment and proper equipment to help people. If the equipment or space is unsafe we could harm people instead. Standard 2C, the policies and procedures states that the physical therapy service has written policies and procedures that reflect the operation, mission, purposes, and goals of the service, and are consistent with the association’s standards, policies, positions, guidelines, and Code of Ethics. c) SWOT Analysis: Pretend you are the owner, director, chair, or head of your chosen career. Conduct a SWOT analysis using a common situation or problem that occurs in your chosen career. Career Situation/Problem to Analyze: Needing to increase revenue.

Our plan to maximize our strengths is to continue to offer quality service and keep our therapists up to date on the latest innovations in physical therapy and keep our prices competitive by offering incentives for cash paying customers to get discounts for booking package sessions. To minimize our weaknesses we will hire a great marketing manager that will help us promote our innovative style and competitive prices towards the baby boomer population and improve our visibility in the online world.

Strengths: (internal positive factors) Strengths describe the positive attributes, tangible and intangible of your organization. These are within your control.

Weaknesses: (internal, negative factors) Weaknesses are aspects of your business that detracts from the value you offer or place you at a competitive disadvantage.

Questions to consider: What is it you do really well? What resources (talent/ technology/ equipment) do you have that other don’t? We are very well trained in innovative styles of physical therapy. We have a great location and fair prices.

What is it that you lack? (resources, specific talent, technology, geography?) What can you improve on? We need specific marketing and better SEO for our website. There is a lot of competition in the area. Need to market competitive edge.

Opportunities: (external, positive factors) Opportunities are external attractive factors that represent reasons for you your business to exist and prosper.

Threats: (external, negative factors) Threats are external factors beyond your control that could put your business/organization at risk. You may benefit from having a contingency plan for them.

What is it that people are saying about you/organization in the marketplace? Are there opportunities to align with partners in the marketplace? Is there beneficial legislation or any funding you can pursue?

What are your competitors doing better than you? Have consumers’ buying/fitness habits changed? What other factors are out of your control?

Baby boomer market is in need of physical therapy, we are up to date with the latest trends in PT.

Doctors are prescribing more medication that PT. Competitors are teaming with other doctors, chiropractors and fitness professionals.

PART 2: WEBSITE

Rationale: Throughout the 8 weeks you will design an original, professional leadership website about you and what you learned in this course. This website will be used to demonstrate your personal leadership skills and professionalism in the field of management in Kinesiology. Each week instructions will be given regarding the specific content you are to include on your website. I will provide feedback, suggestions and confirm that you are on the right track. Professionalism is the key and you will be graded accordingly. At the end of this course you will present your website to the class and receive positive and corrective feedback from classmates about your website. Accurate and professional submissions are important, thank you!

This week you will continue to personalize your website and add more content to your current pages. At this time your pages and titles should be in the following order; 1) “Home,” 2) “Your Name” (this is your bio), 3) “Leadership” and 4) “Management.”

1. Leadership Page:

a) At the top of your Leadership page define “Kinesiology.” It should be a 2-3 sentence definition and be sure to cite your source on

your webpage. b) Just below your Kinesiology definition, add another textbox and use your career goal/path for the title (i.e.

Physical Educator, Physical Therapist, or Athletic Trainer). You mentioned your career last week in your personal biography. Now this page will explain what Kinesiology is and the specific field you are interested in.

b) Define your career. For example, what does a Corporate Fitness Consultant or an Athletic Director do? Make a list (not a

paragraph) of the key responsibilities and tasks for this career.

c) Creatively post your top 3 career standards/objectives from Part 1 of this assignment. Cite your source! Attach the standards

document or post the standards website for future use.

d) Finally, be a leader and be creative by adding at least two of the following career-specific items; images, professional

2. Management Page:

a) Creatively list the 5 functions of management in the order listed in the Sawyer & Judge text.

b) Using your website as a digital resume is useful especially when you post sample work. Under your “Planning” management function title that you just created, add a title stating “SWOT Analysis & Plan.Using Part 1 of this assignment make a separate word document of your SWOT analysis and plan only. Do not include your entire assignment 2 just the SWOT and plan. Post your SWOT analysis as an attachment beside the title. Do the same for Part 1 “Quality Physical Education National Standards” and attach your work. Remember to make it look professional.

3. Continue to work on personalizing your website.
