Viz One Introduction
- Viz One provides broadcasters with file-based workflows that enable production, management and
delivery of media that can be performed from any desktop

- End-to-end solution for managing media content

- Import content from any source

Viz One: Content Area
Supported Video File Formats
Video files in the following formats can be handled by Viz One version 5.6 or older:

- DV25 wrapped in MXF-Op1a or DIF (PAL/NTSC)


- IMX30/50 wrapped in MXF-Op1a (PAL/NTSC)
- DV100 wrapped in MXF-Op1a or DIF (1080i50/59.94, 720p50/59.94)
- DNxHD wrapped in MXF-Op1a (1080i50/59.94, 720p50/59.94) License required to be able to
play on the Viz Engine
- QT-Animation wrapped in MOV
- XDCamHD 422 wrapped in MXF-Op1a (1080i50/59.94)
- AVC-Intra wrapped in MXF-Op1a (1080i50/59.94) - License required to be able to play on the Viz
Engine

Files in the following formats can be handled by Viz Media Engine, with limited
functionality (watch folder import only, no browse viewing, no editing, no NLE
integration):

- MPEG2 with alpha channel (Matrox proprietary), wrapped in AVI


Supported Video File Formats
Video files in the following formats can be handled by Viz One version 5.7:

- AVC-Intra 50/100 wrapped in MXF-OP1a: 1080i50/59.94, 720p50/59.94


- [SD] DVCAM wrapped in MXF-Op1a: PAL and NTSC
- [SD] DVCPRO 25 wrapped in MXF-Op1a or DIF: PAL and NTSC
- [SD] DVCPRO 50 wrapped in MXF-Op1a or DIF: PAL and NTSC
- DV100/DVCPROHD wrapped in MXF-Op1a or DIF: 1080i50/59.94 and 720p50/59.94
- DnxHD / VC-3 120/145 and 185/220 wrapped in MXF-Op1a: 1080i50/59.94, 1080p23.98 and
720p50/59.94

Supported Video File Formats
Files in the following formats can be handled by Viz One with limited
functionality:

- QT-Animation wrapped in MOV but not with either NTSC drop-frame or non-drop frame clips. Clip
MUST have associated audio: Viewing, but no editing.
- MPEG2 with alpha channel (Matrox proprietary), wrapped in AVI: Watch folder import only, no
browse viewing, no editing, no NLE integration
- MPEG 4224 (Matrox oroprietary) in AVI: No viewing or editing
Supported Image File Formats
Image files in the following formats can be handled by Viz One 5.6 and older versions:
- JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, PNM

Image files in the following formats can be handled by Viz One 5.7 and later versions:
- BMP, GIF, JPEG, PBM, PGM, PNG, PNM, PPM, PSD, TGA, TIFF

File Based Ingest
Viz One supports several ways to import assets

- In VMS (Viz Media Studio), Drag and Drop media to a placeholder items page

- Copying content to a VME folder:


- Windows/Samba shared folder
- Using FTP client

- Note that a placeholder has to be created first. MEDIA->Create->Item. Enter the Title and any
other metadata and save
- Search for the placeholder and drop the media on it as shown below

- Files dropped on this folder are ingested into Viz One
- The user can check the status of the ingest from the Status page (showed in the next page)
- Files in this folder are deleted automatically after 24 hours
Ingest Status
- Select Transfers from the side bar to view the status of the ingest
- The transcoding means a proxy is being created
- When the status changes to OK, then the user can search and view the content
- If an ingest fails, an error message will be displayed at the bottom of the page. This
message is useful for debugging

- The image below shows how the asset is presented to the user while the ingested
image/video is being processed.
Renaming an item / Edit metadata
- Open an asset, open the metadata tab, click on modify. The user can now rename the
title and edit the metadata

Viz One assets can be tagged with keywords, this makes it easier to search for items from
control applications

- Use a web browser (Chrome reccomended) and login to Viz One


- Click on Administration from the sidebar, the Administration console will open in a new
page
- Click on Dictionaries from the sidebar, and select Viz Tags from the dropdown menu
- At the bottom of the page, enter the keyword, MUST be uppercase and the two entries
MUST be the same. Hit Add and Save, then the keyword will be added to the list.
- Go back to the content page
- select an item
- select the Tags tab
- select viztags from the Tag Sources
- choose the keyword that you created above
The keyword can now be used to filter/search for content from the Control applications

NB: Restart the control application after adding a new keyword in Viz One for the
change to reflect

Basic Editing with Viz One
Editing
- Viz One Media Browser Simple player with support for rough-cut NLE
- Direct access for multiple users
- Timeline editing for video and audio
- Note that all Viz One media is never changed, instead a new revision of the media is
created with each editing operation

Media Browser Create Clips

- Select a clip by searching as described earlier


- Media is loaded in the browser, click the Start control
- Click the Mark In control ( ] ), to register the Inpoint of your clip
- Click the Mark Out control ( [ ), to register the Outpoint of your clip
- Click the Add Clip (+) control, to save your clip

- Repeat for each new cut you want to create. Your new clips are added to a Clip list by the
browser.
