MUSIC FROM SALEM ANNOUNCES JULY & AUGUST
FREE EVENTS. The public is invited to attend Music from
Salem’s free Open Rehearsals and Children’s Workshops offered
throughout July and August in Washington County, New York.
Music from Salem Open Rehearsals offer a glimpse inside the
rehearsal process. Informal, free and open to the public, the Open
Rehearsals feature musicians and repertory from that week’s
upcoming Hubbard Hall concert. They will be held at 4 p.m. on
Thursdays August 5, August 12 at the Brown Farm. The Brown
Farm is located at 154 Priest Road in Salem NY. For directions:

introduction to music-making and listening led by MfS Artistic
Directors and visiting musicians. They will be held on: Thursday

32ND ANNUAL 18TH-CENTURY DAY at the Historic
Schuyler House Schuylerville, NY – On Sunday, August 8 from
noon to 5pm, the 1777 Schuyler House on Route 4 in Schuylerville,
will be the setting for dozens of artisans demonstrating their
crafts much as they were plied over 200 years ago when household
items were handcrafted. Visitors are advised to dress for hot
weather, bring water, and wear insect repellent and sunscreen.

SARATOGA BATTLEFIELD OFFERS FREE GUIDED
BICYCLE TOUR Explore the history and scenery of Saratoga
National Historical Park, located on Route 32 and 4 in Stillwater,
by joining a Park Ranger for a free guided bike tour of the battlefield
at 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday August 18. Participants will
meet at the flagpole at the Visitor Center parking lot. Because the
ride is weather dependent, call the park at 518-664.9821 ext. 224
by 4:30pm to learn the bike ride status.
HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, North Main Street,
Salem conducts Masses with the Rev. Liam Condon, Pastor at
8:15 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays. The Saturday Vigil Mass is
at 4:30p.m. Mass on Sunday is at 8:30 a.m. A Junior High Youth
Rally will be held at All Saints Catholic Academy, (10 Western
Ave.) on August 4th, from 10am – 6pm for young people in

NEW CLASS OFFERRED AT HUBBARD HALL:
GYROKINESIS! The Hubbard Hall Dance & Movement Program
encourages everyone to take advantage of a brand new class in
movement: GYRONKINESIS®. GYROKINESIS® is a system
of exercise which includes elements of dance, yoga, swimming
and tai chi. It is done mainly on a stool, but also standing and
lying down. Its rhythmic, undulating yet simple exercises boost
energy flow, enhance joint articulation and improve posture,
balance and fluidity of movement. The course is taught by Jacquie
West Farbman who holds an M.A. in Movement Sciences from
Columbia University. GYROKINESIS will be offered as a class
on Monday evenings at 7:00pm from through August 9 as well
as on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-10:30am beginning on July
21. Registration for either class is $40 or $36 for members with
the option of single classes for $13/class. To complete the

AREA STUDENTS RECOGNIZED FOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AT SUNY CANTON. President Joseph L. Kennedy and the College’s deans recently recognized almost 800 students
who excelled academically during the Spring 2010 semester. To receive President’s List honors, full-time students must earn a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale. For
Dean’s List, full-time students must receive a GPA of 3.25. Part-Time Honors are awarded to students earning at least a 3.25 GPA on six to 11 credit hours.
