You are advised to spend about 45 minutes on this section.

Question 1

Your class is unhappy with your school canteen. As the monitor of your class, you have been
asked to write to your principal, to complain about the following:

food left uncovered & attract many flies

This may cause food poisoning because of the bacteria and microorganisms that
contaminates the food.
food served is stale
When the food is left open, it becomes stale and when the upper forms came for recess
they cant consume the food because it becomes tasteless
oily plates and cups
The canteen workers do not wash the oily plates and cups properly and when the
students use it they can get diseases from other students who used it before.
the food is too expensive
Those poor students who are studying in the school cant afford to buy the expensive
food. This makes them to starve and get gastric.
rude workers
The workers are very rude to the students and this makes the students to be scared from
buying food from them.
workers not properly attired
The workers are not properly attired though they are asked to wear aprons, caps and
gloves while serving the students food.
dustbins not cleared daily
So when the students throw their rubbish into the dustbins it overflows and this causes
the rats, cats or even cockroaches to multiply on the food.
same menu daily
There is no variety of food in the school canteen, so this makes the students queasy and
not buy food in the canteen but go out of school to buy food during co-curricular
activities which is a danger for their safety.
In your letter, you would also like to offer three suggestions from your
classmates:
stringent checks
cheaper food
serve a variety of food
