Preschool Schedule - Monday

8:30 - 8:35: Arrival


Pick students up from area in front of the main office. Have parents sign in students on check in/check out sheet on clipboard. Walk back to classroom.

8:35 - 8:45: Settle In


Students unpack their backpack and put their green folder in their mailboxes. They find their name in the blue pocket chart and take it back to their seat to trace with expo
marker. When complete, they return their name tag to the bus pocket chart. Students then find a book to read from the student book shelf and quietly find a spot in the front
of the room to read.

8:45 - 9:00: Morning Meeting


Students sit in morning meeting area.
Calendar: The teacher begins by saying what day it is. The group goes over the month and then the days of the week, The teacher calls on a student using
popsicle sticks to count number of days in a month, and then reviews the entire date of that day. A student is then called on using popsicle sticks to go over the
weather.
Letters/Letter Sounds & Letter of the Week: Next, the students say the alphabet, review the letter of the week (how to write it and what words begin with the
letter), and then review zoo phonic sounds with a video.
Numbers/Number of the Week: Students then count to thirty and review number of the day (how to write it, what the first number and second number is of the number,
and counts that many number of dots that the teacher draws on the board).
Colors & Color of the Week: Afterwards, the teacher walks over the colors on the wall next to the windows and has students identify each color that the teacher points
to. A student is called on by a popsicle stick to identify color of the week. The students then review items that are that color.
Shapes & Shape of the Week: Next, the students review different shapes and identify the shape of the week (identify items that are that shape, review how to draw it,
count number of lines and/or points, identify if lines are curved or straight).
Count The Students: A student is then called on to count the number of students who are and are not at school that day using the traced names in the pocket chart. The
teacher write that number of students who are here on the board and then will write the number of students who are not here (teacher will also move the little name tags
to a spot underneath the number of students who are absent).
Helper of the Day: Next the teacher begins to identify who helper of the day is by saying the sound of the first letter of that students name. The students then identify
the letter that makes that sound. This continues until all letters in name are written on the board.
Schedule: Finally, the teacher reviews the schedule for the day.

9:00 - 9:25: Mind Meets Music


Ms. Ruth comes in to teach Mind Meets Music with the students.

9:25 - 9:30: Brain Break- Go Noodle


The teacher displays the Go Noodle website and has the helper of the day pick if they would like a free movement, dance, or sport video. The teacher then goes to said
category and allows the helper of the day to pick which video they would like to do.
9:30 - 9:40: Handwriting Without Tears
The students are broken up into two groups- one with Ms. Nalepa and one with Ms. Holly to work in their Handwriting Without Tears workbook on the page that focuses on
the letter of the day. The teacher works on identifying the sound of the letter, other words that begin with that letter, and how to trace and write the letter.

9:40 - 9:45: Transition/Explain Center Activities


The students all sit in between all of the tables in the center of the room, as Ms. Nalepa explains what activity will be done at each center table.

9:45 - 10:15: Small Groups/Centers


The students rotate between four center/small group stations. Two of the centers will be teacher led and two are independent work for the students to complete. Students
stay at each center for seven minutes. Table two and four are the teacher-led stations, while independent work is completed at tables one and three. Table two typically is
focused on phonics, while table four is typically focused on mathematical concepts. Tables one and three vary depending on what needs to be worked on and what the
theme of the month is (for example- patterns, cutting, handwriting, name activities, sorting, etc.).

10:15 - 10:20: Clean Up/Transition


Students clean up work from centers and then sit on the floor in the read aloud area.

10:20 - 10:30: Read Aloud


The teacher reads a book to the class that corresponds to the theme of the month, and the more specific theme of the week. Review the title, author, and illustrator. Ask
what the book might be about and why the students may think that. The teacher engages with the students about the book by asking questions throughout about the plot,
the characters, different sounds and words heard in the story, etc.

10:30 - 10:45: Snack & Pack


Teacher calls on helper of the day to go line up to wash their hands at the sink. The rest of the students are called on based on how they are sitting and following directions/
rules and then rotate between washing hands at the sink and at the sink in the bathroom. Once the students are done washing their hands they pick up their snack and
water or juice from the counter to take back to their seat to quietly eat. The teacher either plays educational videos on the projector or projects music from the computer.
Once the students are done eating they may throw away their trash, clean up their spot, find their yellow folder in their mailbox, and pack up their backpack. Once they are
done packing their backpack, they may enter the room, find a book to read from the bookshelf, and read to themselves until snack and pack time is complete.

10:45 - 11:00: Free Choice


The teacher places the free choice options on the whiteboard for students to see, while the parapro sets up the centers around the room. There are five centers with three
students at each center. The teacher calls on the helper of the day to make their choice of where they want to play. The student then finds their small name tag on the
board and moves it underneath the picture of the free choice activity that they want. The teacher then calls on students who are sitting quietly and following directions to
make their choice.

11:00 - 11:05: Clean Up/Transition


The teacher plays the clean up song and the students clean up their centers and sit in the front of the room to be called on to start getting ready to go.
11:05 - 11: 25: Outdoor Time
The teacher and the para pro will take the go-bag and the check in/out sheet. The students will line up and will be counted by both adults. The teacher and para pro will
then lead the students to the playground outside. The students will take their backpacks, coats, and any other belongings with them. Their belongings will be placed by the
door in which we will return into the school by. The students will have free time outside to play on the lefthand side of the playground only (if you are facing the parking lot),
and may not go down the large slide.

11:25 - 11:30: Transition


The teacher and para pro will have the kids line up and will count them. The teacher and para pro will then lead the students back into the school and will head down the
hall to the designated drop off/pick up area in front of the main office.

10:30: Dismissal
The teacher takes the go-bag and the check in/out sheet on the clipboard with them as they lead the students to the front of the school to be picked up. The students sit
down against the wall by the main office so that the teacher can count the number of kids. The teacher gives the clipboard to a parent to sign and then calls on each
student to be dismissed as their parents are signing them out, so that the teacher can verify who is picking up each child and that each child reaches their parent/guardian.

grab the carton of balls and some bean bags and hoola hoops for the kids to use in the gym. Once arrived at the gym the students should take off their coats and
backpacks and then sit against the wall to be counted by the teacher. The teacher will then direct the students with what options they have to do in the gym; whether that
be free choice time, various exercises, group games, listen and move activities, etc.

11:25 - 11:30: Clean Up


The teacher tells the students that it is time to clean up and put everything away. The students put all of the objects away in the bins, put on their outdoor clothes and their
backpacks, and line up to walk to the drop-off/pick-up area in front of the office. The teacher counts the students as they are lined up before they leave.

10:30: Dismissal
The teacher takes the go-bag and the check in/out sheet on the clipboard with them as they lead the students to the front of the school to be picked up. The students sit
