Experience
Oil Sands
The Canadian Oil Sands are one of the largest
and most significant unconventional hydrocarbon
resources in the world today. Albertas remaining
proven oil reserves of 170 billion barrels includes
a contribution of 168 billion barrels from the oil
sands. Canadas proven oil reserves are 13 percent of
total global oil reserves. Production as of 2015 was
approximately 2.1 million barrels per day from the oil
sands. There are four main oil sands regions including
Athabasca, Peace River, Cold Lake and Saskatchewan.
The greatest quantity is found in the Athabasca
deposit.
The oil/bitumen within the oil sands is recovered

through two main methods: open pit mining and
in-situ thermal recovery. Approximately 20 percent
of the recoverable oil sands are recoverable through
mining methods due to their depth of burial. In

a petroleum geologist with a focus on subsurface mapping,
petrophysical interpretations and reservoir characterization.

He has been principally involved with evaluations of oil and
gas properties outside of Canada for reserves certifications,
1997 1998 Serpa Petroleum Consulting, Canada
annual reporting and acquisitions and divestitures during the
1992 1997 NoyabrskNefteGas (GASPROM-NEFT), Russia past ten years. He has analyzed and reconciled geophysical
data, geological and engineering data and has prepared
Professional Organizations & Associations geological models for reserves and resources evaluations.
Mr. Tchernavskikh also has considerable experience with the
assessment of exploration prospects and portfolios using
European Association of Geoscientists & Engineers (EAGE) deterministic and probabilistic methods and risk analysis.
Member He has experience with a variety of geosciences software
programs.
Languages
Mr. Tchernavskikh has accumulated experience in most
English and Russian major oil and gas basins throughout the world, including
sedimentary basins in Kazakhstan and Russia, Eastern
Europe, the Middle East, North and Central Africa, South and
North America and South-Eastern Asia. He has worked with
both clastic and carbonate reservoirs onshore and offshore.
