Why?

A question of the fourth

dimension
This little piece of literature will be focussed on dimensions and questions.
Recently I had a thought about these to subjects and how they could be linked.
As the title says I believe that the question why? is a question of the fourth
dimension. I invite you to follow me on this adventure and I hope you allow me to
explain my thoughts so you can broaden your mind.

Well start at the most basic point, the least complex conjunction of question and
dimension. The point Im talking about is the first dimension. For you unaware of
what the first dimensions is, allow me to explain. The first dimension is often
represented as a line. This line however has no Hight only a width. In this
dimension, there is only one basic rule: either there is a line or there is not. You
can interpret this dimension binarily, meaning that you can see it in terms of yes
or no, 1 and 0. We can then formulate the question linked to this dimension. The
question is actually very simple. It is the question we ask if something is or isnt.
A true/false question we will ask in the form of is?. In the first dimension the
only meaningful question we can ask is if there is something or not.

Lets move on, shall we? Well upgrade our dimension the next level, the second
dimension. This dimension adds another layer to our line. It adds height. This
means that the; second dimension is a flat space. In this space, it is possible to
make shapes, like triangles or squares. If you add axiss to this space it is also
possible to define certain points in the space with coordinates. Almost all the
geometry students learn is 2-dimensional. In this dimension, the question we ask
will be where?. It is the next meaningful question we can ask. Also note that the
second dimension is an extension of the first, which means that the question of
that dimension also can be asked in this dimension.

Before we go on the third dimension lets debunk a little myth, so we are all on
the same page. The dimension we humans live in is not the third dimension. We
live in the fourth dimension, the dimension of time. Now thats out of the way we
can focus ourselves on the third dimension. This dimension adds depth into the
mix. We now refer to our flat space as just space. In this space, it is possible to
construct things, to build things. A good way of representing the third dimension
is to picture a snapshot of the world. This one moment of everything in the
universe is then truly 3-dimensional. That is because it is a snapshot, time
effectively froze. The question we ask in this dimension will be what?. As I
previously mentioned the third dimension is space. In this space, we now have
everything to make shapes. For the first time, we are now able to identify things
and classify them. A small note to this is that for us humans time needs to pass
to identify things. This is because for instance vision requires light to travel.
Thats why from now on we need to look objectively at the dimension instead of
the point of view of a human.

Now we are the point of reality. It is generally accepted that we live in the fourth
dimension, the dimension of time. This dimension is best seen a three-
dimensional space that is subject to change. These changes al attributed to the
laws of physics. You see, for there to be forces, movement and reactions there
needs to be time. Newton defined forces as mass times acceleration. Acceleration
m
itself is measured in the unit meters per seconds squared ( s 2 ). We can see

now that time is the essence of the fourth dimension. We have now come to the
moment youve all been waiting for. The question to the fourth dimension which
is the question why?. This is a question that has fascinated me for a long time.
You see the beauty of this question is that you can repeat it as many times as you
like. But contrary to popular believe there is always an answer to it. This is
something strange but in fact there is always an answer. However, we need to
also accept that a lot of these questions are not yet answered by humans.
Sometimes the answer to this question is very complicated and we do not have
every parameter to most of the why questions. This is simply so because we have
not unravelled all the mysteries of the universe. Im sure you can think of
countless why questions but also, I will give you one of my own. The question is:
why is why the question of the fourth dimension?. The answer to that question
would be: Because things happen with a driving force. Events take place
because of driving factors. These factors only can execute their drive on events if
time passes. If there is no time, then there are no driving factors so in fact
nothing happens.

As a sort of epilogue, I want to add the question for the fifth dimension. The fifth
dimension is very abstract and complex. The easiest way to put it is that the fifth
dimension is a collection of timelines. These timelines spawn forth out of every
infinitely small moment of time that passes. This moment spawns infinite new
timelines. And so, every infinitely small moment after that moment all these
infinite timelines spawn infinitely new timelines. This way the fifth dimensions is a
collection of everything that can happen, but also everything that didnt happen.
It contains literally every event that is conceivable in the fourth dimension and
every combination of events. The fourth dimension (or at least the one we live in)
is than a path carved in all these possibilities. The arrangement and history of our
universe is but one of infinite. The question in this dimension is than rather
simple. The question is when?. This is because there are infinite number of
timelines where the specific event in question happens on a specific time, but
where everything but that event is different from the other timelines. The
constant here is that the event happens at that point in time. We can add to
those timelines another batch of infinite timelines where the event happens but
the specific time changes. Here the only constant is that the event happens. But
then we can add another heap of timelines where the event just doesnt happen.
Here we just answer our question when? with never. Now whats interesting is
that we now have come full circle. At the most basic level we just asked the
question is? and now at the level of everything, the dimension where literally
everything can and will happen, we conclude that we still can reduce this
complex dimension to a question: Is or isnt?.
