Before the Remind teachers to bring their Revised Teacher Guides to the meeting.

Ask teachers to prepare to share orally their experiences and bring student work or
learning materials developed in the past month.

Sharing Teachers share in in pairs, grade groups or subject groups their experiences and
session reflection pertaining to the new materials, a new activity, a new approach they have
tried.
Efforts are congratulated/celebrated and participants are encouraged to share newly
developed learning aids

Teachers can view accompanying video capsules. Guiding questions are inserted in the
Facilitator Guide to stimulate discussion.

Each teacher looks at his/her revised Teacher Guides and selects lessons and/or
activities where he/she will try/apply what has been introduced and discussed in this
months LAC meeting.

This work is sometimes done in pairs, in small groups or individually

Each teacher shares what he/she is planning to do and together, in small grade groups,
they discuss and help each other identify what they will collect in terms of evidence
on the outcome. At the following session (in a months time), they will share their
experiences, collected data/evidence and reflections on what they tried and how it
went.

Topic 1: The 14 domains of literacy and bridging strategies.


Objectives:
Identify the 14 domains in a 2 week sequence in a revised Teacher Guide (only 1
Teacher Guide)
In grade groups, describe an activity for each of the 14 domains
Locate the bridging boxes in the revised Teacher Guides
Describe learning aids they will make or have students make to enhance bridging
during the 2 weeks

Demonstrate how to model decoding strategies
Describe fluency games and activities and how fluency affects comprehension

Time: 2 hours
Objective: By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

In pairs share an example of composing in your classroom. Ask a few pairs to share.

Explain to the participants that for each LAC meeting, they will choose an
upcoming 2 weeks instructional sequence on which they will work during
the session. So every time you tell them to look at their Teacher Guides,
they go to those 2 weeks.
