4) JIST OF DISCUSSIONS WITH MIL (MR.Suresh) ON 18/08/2016

All clearances for process were available by June 2016, revised schedules thereof, with delivery
commencing from Dec 2016 till March 2017.
Under pressure during recent internal they are realistically targeting dispatches to commence in October
2016 and to be completed by March 2017 in Toto.
We have conveyed MIL that L& T seeks improvement on the schedule so as to complete deliveries by
December 2016.
All efforts from every player have to be taken at a war footing to achieve the above.
We (L&T) further stressed the need of at least 20 valves(their choice) fully processed, assembled
,tested and cleared for September dispatch
Mr. Sanjeev from L&T Baroda had conveyed this to MIL as confirmed by Suresh.
However, MIL contends that it is not realistically possible; still do their best for October16.
We understand that there are various stages at the vendor after pouring or forging;

@ Foundry
Cooling time
Heat Treatment
Mechanical Testing
Radiography
Magnetic Particle Inspection
Despatch to MIL C,Mala.
@ MIL C
Machining
Die penetration tests
Pressure Tests
Assembly and Checks
Ultra sonic tests for forgings.

@ the foundry for Inspection of heat treatment and test procedures require the presence of QA reps from;
L&T,MIL C & NPCL thus the coordination and presence gets delayed.

As per discussion with MIL it is estimated that it takes between 30 to 45 days of pouring to receive the rough
components into MIL factory after all procedures, tests and clearances.

Each valve constitutes of 5 to 6 foundry components like body, bonnets,plugs (primary

&secondary),cage, forged seat rings, other minor components sourced from other vendors.
Around 5 grades of carbon/alloy steel and 2 grades of SS are used in manufacture of these
Control and on off valves, automation in the case of smart valves.
For castings they have 3 main vendors;
Sanmar,Trichy.For body and bonnet
Veeyes,Coimbatore.-- For trimmings like plugs and cage
Ultimate,Coimbatore.-- For trimmings like plugs and cage
Forgings;
Ring Forge, Bangalore.Seat rings, other( SS304/316).
