Overpopulation

Overpopulation

The book The Population Bomb by Stanford University Paul Ehrlich predicted that

there would be a mass starvation in the years 1970s-1980s due to overpopulation. Obviously this

prediction was wrong and a mass starvation didnt end up happening however is that to say that

the world will never reach its limit with people. With rapid growth in the world there is no doubt

that more people will bring negative consequences such as: extinction of species, destruction of

the ecosystem, and pollution in general, and production of greenhouse gas. The world population

is rapidly growing and with that will come the problems it brings.

In the year 2030 scientist predict the population will be over 10 billion people, with the

population count rising so rapidly there is no doubt that the pollution in the world will skyrocket.

In a world where most every family needs a car and energy to function and with every car

producing 19 pounds per gallon of heat trapped emission the sky will be black with pollution

that's not even mentioning coal and other factories. The mass pollution can cause many problems

such as: global warming, acid rain, and a harmful environment to humans (google.com). We

have issues with pollution now but its hard to imagine the effects it will have then when it will

be so much worse.

Scientist agree that the biggest factor in global warming is the rapid expansion of the

greenhouse effects (a blanket around the earth) . The greenhouse effect is gas that stays in the
2

atmosphere and traps the heat so it can't leave forcing global warming to happen. The gas in the

sky is a direct correlation to having more pollution from more humans. The effects that global

warming can bring deadly effects such as: sea levels rising, disease spread and global disasters.

With the weather going up the ice caps are slowly melting allowing for the water to rise. The

reason this is so bad is the mass hurricane and floods. Diseases that are spread by bugs and

animals will increase because with hotter weather comes a much more suitable environment for

bugs to live and reproduce. If we don't keep the population down the weather will rise.

Although overpopulation has many negative effects it can bring some good to this world

also. With more population needing more things to live this can give many people jobs. More

jobs bring more money to the cycle which can be very beneficial to our economy. With more

people military power can have many more soldiers to fight for their country. The good that will

come from this is that there will be more American soldiers to keep our country safe and

protected. The bad that the military can bring is that enemies of our country will have more

people also making for much bloodier wars and fights. Another reason it could be justified as

good is the fact the with more people comes more unique ideas. The only downside to this is that

someone could invent a massive war weapon to end the world. Although there is some good to it

the bad effects still outweigh the good effects drastically.

My proposal to this issue is to simply aware the public about the issue and about how to

prevent unwanted pregnancies. There are over over 211 million unwanted pregnancies per year,

if we show people how to prevent that it could bring the population down more and also give

kids a better life. The chance of living a bad life if you are unwanted is drastically higher than if

the parents planned to have a child and statistically people that are poor tend to have more
3

children. Overpopulation is such an easy problem to fix however a ton of people just dont

understand all the negative that it can bring into this world.

The earth population of the earth is growing very fast and there are many consequences

that might bring very bad problems to human and animal life all around the world. Some

consequences include: global warming, pollution, disease and very big wars with many people

dying. The human race has to address and spread awareness to this issue or it could bring the end

of the human race in the worst case scenario.
