LEADERSHIP INTERVIEW QUESTIONS:

These questions are designed to assess whether you have both leadership skills and leadership
potential.

Answer the following questions as you would in an interview:

1. What would your friends or the people that you work with say is the best leadership
quality / trait that you possess? Why?
I would imagine that they would say that I work hard and focus on the greater good. I allow
people in a group to do what they can to help but I do not permit a person to carry out a task
they have never done before. For instance, when my group had to make a PowerPoint
presentation for Grade 10 History, I for the most part did the PowerPoint and left the poster
to my partner. In this occasion we both had experience in both assignments so everything
worked out but in a case where one is clearly more tech savvy dividing the work makes
work faster as opposed to two people working on the same part.
2. Describe a situation in which you failed as a leader. What did you learn from this
experience?
One example of me failing as a leader is when I was leading a team in a game. I didnt
know everyones strengths and weakness which led to me putting the wrong people in the
wrong place. The game ended in a loss, on my fault. This taught me to give people a chance
at showing their skills as opposed to imposing a position to them that they cannot perform
to the best of their abilities.
3. What is the leadership characteristic that you look for in a manager / team leader? Why?
One leadership characteristic I look for in a manager/team leader is trustworthy. A leader
cant lead unless the people who follow trust them enough to listen to their ideas and plans.
4. How have you gained the respect of your team mates/ colleagues?
I believe that I gained the respect of my team mates/colleagues through showing my hard
work and present my skills to them in a way that they seem viable for use in a group
activity.
5. How have you encouraged learning and development of teammates and/or colleagues?
I encouraged learning and development of teammates and/or colleagues by not disrupting
lessons to the best of my ability without hindering my own learning.
6. What has been the most significant change that you have made to date? Why has it
impacted you?
The most significant change to date would probably be my change in sleeping habits. It has
impacted me by giving me more energy throughout the day to pay attention in class and
learn to my fullest capability.
