I. BACKGROUND

Basically the use of petroleum has become human needs at this time. Almost all
aspects of life associated with the use of petroleum. Every year, in particular the use of
petroleum fuel oil (BBM) and petrochemicals in Indonesia always increases in line with
the growing population in Indonesia. To supply fuel and petrochemicals in Indonesia, it
is expected to increase production of crude oil and gas in Indonesia.
JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori as one of the oil and gas companies in
Indonesia that engaged in the exploration field is located in Banggai, Central Sulawesi.
In the era of globalization, the running process in the petroleum industry is indispensable
to improve the quality of labor, professionalism, global competitiveness and competition
shown with increasing self-reliance, work ethic, discipline and skills that correspond to
the specifications in the field.
Then in connection with the Institute of Energy and Mineral (STEM) Akamigas
as an institution of higher education in Indonesia seeks to develop human resources and
science and technology in order to support the development of the petroleum and gas
industry in Indonesia.
Development of college student science, not only theory in the lecture bench but
must be applied directly in the workplace. Such efforts can be implemented with corporate
internship, and on the job training. JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori is a great place
to be able to study in depth, especially in the field of gas production. Therefore, students
Oil and Gas Processing Engineering Akamigas implement Job Training at JOB Pertamina
Medco E&P Tomori and expected to improve knowledge about the gas production and
processing. An understanding of the problems in the gas production and processing is
expected can support theoretical knowledge gained from the classroom activities, so that
students will be ready to become reliable human resources in era of globalization.

II. PURPOSE

1 Students can learn and understand the application of science that has been
applied in industry.
2 Students know how to manage gas processing directly and participate in the
process.

3 Students can determine the operating conditions of the unit so that the process
of understanding the influence of operation variables of the gas processing.
4 Students can adapt into working life at the real conditions so they can build
up the courage to develop themselves and expand insight of workplace.
5 Students can improve the ability of individuals to work directly as an expert
in the gas production and processing.

III. BENEFITS FOR THE COMPANY

In the implementation of On The Job Training (OJT), STEM Akamigas students can
perform in the process of evaluation and optimization of oil and gas process equipment
in JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori so that the calculation result from student of
STEM Akamigas can be used as one of consideration. The examples of evaluation and
optimization that can be implemented by STEM Akamigas students and related to JOB
Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori gas processing plant are as follows :
1 Evaluation and optimization of acid gas removal unit (absorber and regenerator
column)
2 Evaluation and optimization of dehydration unit (absorber and regenerator
column)
3 Evaluation and optimization of flaring system
4 Evaluation and optimization of separation unit

IV. SCOPE
Implementation of these practices work scope as a container application of
knowledge gained in college to the field as well as a place of learning and enhancing the
knowledge regarding the processing of gas in JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori.

V. ACTIVITY
Work practice in JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori is proposed to start on July 17,
2017 through August 11, 2017. Details of the activities will include the following
activities:
1 Introduction in general about JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori.
2 Recognition and direct observation of field work practices.

On this topic it will be discussed equipment for oil and gas processing, such as
columns, heat exchangers, and others. This material regarding the workings of the
equipment, SOP start up and shutdown of equipment, evaluation, optimization,
and design base equipment.
Oil and Gas Processing
On this topic it will be discussed the processing of oil or gas that can be done, such
as the process of separation, dehydration, and acid gas removal so forth.
Oil and Gas Products
On this topic it will be discussed and feed products as well as the specifications of
each to determine whether and feed products have met the determined
specifications or not.
Storage and Handling
On this topic it is discussed storage and sampling of products or feed. This topic
is also about the types of tanks, tank election, SOP and other types of sampling.
I am interested in implementation Process of gas. I intend to file a permit that can
be studied processing gas in JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori Banggai, Central
Sulawesi.
The followings are areas that I am interested to implement through a review of work
practices :
1 Gas sweetening process which includes the process of fractionation, dehydration,
acid gas removal, separation, etc.
2 Heat exchanger systems that work in accordance with the scientific field of heat
transfer.
3 Rotating equipment such as the performance of pumps, compressors, etc.
But I was also not possible to accept the topics covered by the JOB Pertamina
Medco E&P Tomori related to my concentration of Oil and Gas Processing Engineering.
I am also interested if JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori can put me in one of the key
sectors such as Drilling Site, Power Plant or Surface Facilities. But I remain open to any
suggestions or comments from JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori are more experienced
in the placement department for students Oil and Gas Processing Engineering undergoing
Job Training in JOB Pertamina Medco E&P Tomori.
