Lytespan by l-lcl{Tol-lEl?
The core of the Lytespan system is an electrical
track which provides complete flexibility in power
distribution and architectural application. It serves
as a support and power source for the Lytespots -
the system's group of precise, versatile lighting
elements.
Lytespan's versatility has been greatly expanded
in scope, opening up new worlds of possibilities
for creative accent lighting.
The Trcck
Clean and compact in design so that it can be
used openly without concealing treatments, the
track is now available in curved as well as straight
lengths.
The choice of methods for recessing the track
has been expanded by the development of two new
types ol recessed housings - //angeless lor plas-
ter and concrete - and flanged for tile and other
types of dry ceiling materials.
A choice of connectors which allows the track
to turn corners and intersect without change in
cross-section offers increased flexibility of lighting
pattern.
Monopoint and Weighted Base
fhe Monopoint (outlet box cover) installs in wet
or dry ceiljngs, accepts any single Lytespot and is
the downlighting counterpari of the Weighted Base
which provides portable uplighting. Both are, in
effect, short lengths of track with the same clip-on
flexibility as the full-length track sections.
The Lytespots
Lytespots olfer a range of intensity from 25 to
500 watts and a wide choice of compact, simple
forms that will not grow tiresome. They clip on at
any point on track, swivel horizontally or vertically,
providing flexibility of position and direction. Ac-
cessories for altering the shape, spread, throw and
color of light beams fit most Lytespots.

Several special-purpose Lytespots are available.
Among them is the 200 wait Dlmmer wh jch features
built-in solid state circuitry for providlng precise
control of brightness and ease of color blending.
fhe Cool Beam units offer new means for pro-
tecting heat-perishable displays from damage and
also accept Quartz lodine lamps which provide
high-intensity, brilliant white light of extra long life.
Anew Framing Prolectol, which produces sharp-
edged beams of any desired shape by means of
adjustable shutters, makes use of a long-life, high-
intensity, low-voltage Quartz lodine lamp, and has
a two-step translormer lor adjusting intensity
levels.
Wall Washing Systems
Among the special-purpose Lytespots available
is a choice ol wall washing units that can be used
individually or in series with optional baffles to
form a complete system. Compact in size, they
permit ease of installation where Lytespan is con-
cealed in troughs, behind baltles or fascias.
The wall units offer a range of intensity from 30
to 300 watts, create a new standard in distribuiion
from ceiling to floor, and feature fast relamping
and repositioning. What was hitherto a costly cus-
tom detail can now be achievd with standard prod-
ucts at minimum cosl.

Lytespan Track
Flexible in Power Disttibution. Electrified through-
out its length, Lytespan offers a continuous power
source that permits Lytespots to be attached any-
where along its length. Conductors are safely con-
cealed in an insulating liner within the track. Lyte-
span can be fed at any point from its own or exist-
ing outlet boxes, or at the ends from surface
mounted conduit or metallic raceways. Continuous
runs can be fed from a single outlet. Lytespan is
polarized and grounded throughout and is UL and
CSA listed. Capacity is 20 amperes at 120 volts
per branch circuit (2400 watt load).
Versatile in Architectural Application. Track may
be surface, stem or recessed mounted. When re-
cessed, the track is enclosed in an aluminum
housing built into the ceiling. Two types of hous-
ings flangeless and tlanged permit a choice
of installation in plaster or concrete, or tile and
other types of dry ceiling materials.
The first lighting track available in curved as well
as straight modular lengths, Lytespan can be fabri-
cated to specified radii in either plane to meet the
needs of domed, arched or round structures.
A choice of connectors each in a small cross-
seciion that precisely matches that of the track -
is available to produce corners, intersections or
square or rectangular patterns that provide great
flexibility of lighting patterns.
The Lytespan [,4onopoint (outlet box cover) pro-
vides the clip-on flexibility of the track in a most
inconspicuous form and can either be plastered
in flush, or surface mounted on dry ceilings. The
free-standing Weighted Base provides portable
upljghting using any single Lytespot. Both are,
in effect, very short lengths of track for use wher-
ever interchangeability is required but where full
lengths of track are not desired.
Clean, Campact and Modular in Detail. Lytespan
is crisp in detail with a minimum cross-section of
only 1" x 111s", and is in a clean, compact iorm
which permits it to be used openly without con-
cealing treatments. lt is made in 4' and B'sections
of rugged, extruded aluminum with satin clear
anodized finish. Sections may be used individually
or in continuous runs. End sections may be easiiy
cut to length on the job.

Lytespan Recessed Track
When recessed, the track js housed in a separate
aluminum extrusion. There are two types:
F/argeless housing serves as plaster frame for
pLaster or poured concrete ceilings or fits pre-
c sely irro '/," kerfed tile ce l,ngs.
F/arged housing serves as trim frame for vari-
ous Iypes of dry ceiling materia's.
Housings are designed to be permanently re-
cessed in cellings or walls. The track itself, how-
ever, may be easily removed from housing for
inspection or servicing (by means of a concealed
screw and capijve nut) withoul disturbing ceiling
or branch circuit wiring.
Recessed track is fed from a special recessed
splice box which is installed at one end of or
between rwo lengtl's of recessed l'ousing.

Compact Lytespots in a coordinated range of watt-
ages and distributions to meet almost any accent
and display lighting need. All in this group use
highly efficient PAR lamps which assure precise
control of beam spread and pattern. All are
equipped for filters, spread lenses and louvers.
Rotating lamp holders snap out for lamp replace-
ment, also enable elliptical beam patterns to be
oriented horizontally or vertically.
Special purpose units include:
200 Watt PAR 46 Dimms with solid state cir-
cuilry provides continuously variable intensity
control. Range of brightness lrom zero to 32,000
candlepower permits wide tlexibility in creating
dramatic elfects. With color filters, provides good
color intensity conlrol, ease ol color blending.
300 Watt Cool Beam provides heat dissipation
required tor PAR 56/2 lamp which removes two-
thirds of radiant heat from Iight beam. Safeguards
foods, labrics, other heat-perishable materials.
Cool Beam unit also accepts 500 watt PAR 56
Quartz lodine lamp. Gives brilliant white light of
maintained intensity throughout its 4,000-hr. lile.

high-intensity, ultra-narrow "pin spot" for accent-
ing small details at close distances or larger sub-
jects at long distances. Built-in 5.2 volt secondary
transformer provides 46,000 candlepower and
2,000-hr. lamp life. Rotating lamp holder snaps out
Jor lamp replacernent, retains color fliters or
spread lens by means ot recessed spring clips,
maintain ing clean p rofile.
75Watt Ftaming Prolector prod uces sharp-edged
light beams of desired shape or size, confines light
accurately within the outline of an object, avoiding
light spill. Concealed adjustable shutters permit
wide range of quadrilateral shapes; drop-in tem-
plates provide sharp-edged round beams of vary-
ing diameters. Unit uses compact, efficient Syl-
vania T-3,28 volt Quartz lodine lamp. with 2,000-hr.
raied life, thus eliminating the frequent relamping
and frequent readjustment of shutters found so an-
noying in conventional units of ihis type using ihe
G-16r/, lamp. Two-step transformer permits choice
of intensity levels, giving either the values noted in
lighting data at left, with 2,000-hr. life, or 84 percent
of these values at 4,000 hours (over 2 years at 5

Each accommodates a variety oJ lamps and is
equipped with a matte black concentric ring louver
that provides 45' visual cut-off to the light source.
Lytesphere uses a 150 watt PAR 38,75 watt R-30,
or 100 watt A-19 general service lamp. Built-in
Alzak@ reflector permits efficient use of low-cost

Solution: The black curves on the 30' graph show ihat

The Universal and Mini-Swivel Lytespots are highly
flexible in application and economical operation.
Each accepts a variety of eff cient R and PAR
lamps from 30 to 300 watts, including the 250 watt
PAR 38 Quartz lodine lamp for use wherever bril-
liant white light of maintained ntensity s desired.
Universal Lylespol features an adjustable socket
arrangement that perrnits pos tion ng of lamps so
that neck of the largest or smallest lamp is always
concealed. The yoke, attached to socket, can be
slid anywhere along the length of a slot on side of
housing; knurled knob locks sockel in pobition.
Optional rnatie black shield (7587) fits secure y
over PAR 38 and R-40 lamps with spring clips,
serves also to ho d spread lens, fjlters or louver.
N,4echanical and electrical connectrons to track
function independent y, permitting unit to be
switched off, yet rernain in place.
Mini-Swivel Lylespof has a most compact swivel
arrangement for easy insta lation on Lytespan
track concealed in troughs or behind baifles or
lasclas, provides maximum eccnomy and flexib ty
for vertical surface illumlnation. Lamp ho der
swivel rrounting provides flexibility for adjusting
horjzontal aim ng up to 350', vert cal to 150', n
minirrum space. Lamp ho der takes any screw-
base lamp irom 30 to 300 watt;. Aim ng ang es are
