1a (obs): Demonstrating knowledge of content and pedagogy 4- Highly Effective


Teacher utilized a variety of teaching strtaegies thorughout the lesson including
whole group, small group, 1:1 instruction and 1:1 conferencing.

1e (obs): Designing coherent instruction 4- Highly Effective

2a: Creating an environment of respect and rapport 4- Highly Effective


Classroom interactions between the teacher and students and among students are
highly respectful, reflecting genuine warmth, caring, and sensitivity to students as
individuals.

2d: Managing student behavior 4- Highly Effective


Teacher monitoring of student behavior is subtle and preventive. The teachers
response to student misbehavior is sensitive to individual student needs and
respects students dignity. This was exhibited when a student with challenging
behavior seemed to be struggling. Teacher afforded the student with a seperate
desk allowing the student independent work space. The student was able to sit
among peers and rejoin the lesson.

3b: Using questioning and discussion techniques 3- Effective


"Did you start painting? "What step are you on? Look at your instruction sheet.
What step are you on and what step are you missing? Good, so what should you
do?"

3c: Engaging students in learning 3- Effective


Students participated in small group instruction. Teacher differentiated activity

according to individual abilities. Students were aware that they were creating
recycled art as they were able to verbalize that the plastic bottles were not
garbage.

3d: Using assessment in instruction 3- Effective


Students particpated in self-assessment. Teacher collected IEP Pal data
throughout the lesson.

4e (obs): Growing and developing professionally 4- Highly Effective


The teacher solicits feedback on practice from both supervisors and colleagues.
The teacher initiates important activities to contribute to the profession.

3c- Engaging Student in Learning- In order to increase student's intellectual engagement and the quality of
student discussions, consider affording time for students to problem solve in small groups. For example in
todays lesson, you could have asked students, "Why is it important to follow steps? Each group share out a
reason why it is important to follow steps." This will allow students the opportunity to brainstorm and share
out their thoughts.
