Rodriguezidentifiedthefollowing9principles:

1. Patientnavigationisapatientcentrichealthcareservicedeliverymodel.
2. Patientnavigationservestovirtuallyintegrateafragmentedhealthcaresystemforthe
individualpatient.
3. Thecorefunctionofpatientnavigationistheeliminationofbarrierstotimelycareacrossall
segmentsofthehealthcarecontinuum.
4. Patientnavigationshouldbedefinedwithaclearscopeofpracticethatdistinguishesthe
roleandresponsibilitiesofthenavigatorfromthatofallotherproviders.

1.1Assistpatientsinaccessingcancercareandnavigatinghealthcaresystems.Assess
