Community Service
As Catholics, we are called to
perform community service. One
of the most important parts of
our faith is to help others, espe-
cially those less fortunate than
us, or those who are in dire need
of our help. Community service is
one of the best ways to show
that we truly are Catholics. It
does this by showing that we
care about the rest of the com-
munity and are willing to put in
time and effort to improve the
community and help other peo-
ple. This also shows that we are
Catholics because Jesus strongly
stressed the importance of helping
others. He said it is most important
to love your neighbor as yourself.
Jesus also led by example in show-
ing how Catholics should act, as he
constantly went out of his way to
help others. Although we must com-
plete twenty hours of service for
school, I think we should be doing
community service anyways. It is a
great way to help others, and it
helps you feel good in the process
too. The community service I did was
working at my churchs fish fry and
helping to build a pavilion in a park
for a friends Eagle Scout Project.

Eagle Scout Project

The other service project I
worked on was my
friend, Jordon Surkoskys, pavilion. I then gave the
Eagle Scout Project. For
his Eagle Scout Project,
Jordon decided to build
a pavilion in Preston
Park, which is a small
park in Butler. Cement
had to be laid down, then
wood was used to con-
struct frame and supports,
and a roof was put on
top of the pavilion. At the
Eagle Scout Project, I
helped in several differ-
ent ways. The main way I
helped was by moving
around wood. I gathered
the wooden beams from
the supply sheds and helped
move it to the location of the

sons. It helped me see what it
was like doing an Eagle Scout
Project and gave me experi-
ence for the future. It also
helped me get experi-
ence with building and
need in the future. The
project helped me see
how cooperating with
others is so productive. It
was easiest to work and
work with others when I
treated others how we
should treat others as
Catholics. I saw Christ
mostly in the people I
worked with as we were
able to accomplish this
huge goal and build the
pavilion.
