I. REMOVAL OF ENGINE
A JOB SET UP
1. Comply with the general safety instructions for the electrical power supply system (AMM
24-00-00,3-1).

3. Comply with the general safety instructions for the power plant (AMM 71-00-00,3-1).
4. If the engine is replaced:
a. record the number of cycles counted (AMM 71-00-00,3-2).
b. refer to the EMM TURBOMECA and do the engine preservation procedure,
5. Remove the engine cowling (AMM 53-51-00,4-1).
6. Remove the main rotor blades (AMM 62-11-00,4-1).
7. Install the shoring equipment, if necessary.
B Procedure(Refer Figure:1)
1. If optional engine wash compressor installed:
a. Disconnect the compressor wash pipe (11) at the firewall:
i. cut and remove the lockwire
ii.
loosen and disconnect the compressor wash pipe (11).

b. Loosen the clamp (10) and disconnect the discharge duct (1) of the bleed valve at the
firewall.( PRE MOD 073227 (Figure 1 Sheet 1))
c.
Remove the attachment clamp (24),( POST MOD 073227 (Figure 1 Sheet 2, DETAIL E))

loosen and remove the clamp (25) and disconnect the discharge duct (1) of the bleed valve at
the firewall.
2. Loosen the clamp (13) and disconnect the ventilation duct of the starter-generator (12) at the
firewall.
3. Disconnect the fuel supply pipe (17) from the left side of the engine accessories unit
(DETAIL C):
a. cut and remove the lockwire,
b. Loosen and disconnect the fuel supply pipe (17) from the elbow union (18).
4. Disconnect the oil inlet pipe (16) and the oil discharge pipe (15) from the left side of the
engine accessories unit (DETAIL B):
a. cut and remove the lockwire,
b. loosen and disconnect the oil inlet pipe
c. loosen and discharge the oil discharge pipe (15).
5. Disconnect the P2 pipe (14) from the left side of the engine compressor casing (DETAIL A):
a. cut and remove the lockwire,
b. loosen and disconnect the P2 pipe (14) from the compressor casing.
6. Disconnect the fuel return pipe (19) from the right side of the engine accessories unit
(DETAIL D):
a. cut and remove the lockwire,
b. loosen and disconnect the fuel return pipe (19).
7. Disconnect the vent pipe (21) of the engine oil tank from the Tee union (23) on the right side of the engine (DETAIL
D):
a. loosen the two attachment clamps (20),

b.
disconnect the vent pipe (21) of the engine oil tank and collect the sleeve (22).

8.
Disconnect the electrical bonding braids (4), (8):

a.
remove the bolt that attaches the electrical bonding braid (8) to the firewall,

b.
remove the bolt that attaches the electrical bonding braid (4) to the transmission deck.

9.
Disconnect the power supply cables and the electrical bonding braid of the starter-generator
(AMM 24-31-00,4-1).

10.
Disconnect the electrical harness (6) from:

a.
the two connectors on the transmission deck,

b.
the two FADEC connectors in the cargo hold.

NOTE 1:REMOVE THE SEALANT BEAD FROM AROUND THE HATCH THAT GIVES ACCESS TO THE
FADEC CONNECTOR.
NOTE 2: LOOSEN AND REMOVE THE SCREWS FROM THE HATCH.
11.
Install the sling, ARRIEL engine [365A91-5400-02] on the hoisting points (2) on the engine.
Then attach the hoisting system used and adjust its tension.

12.
Disconnect the casing (9) of the engine-to-MGB coupling shaft from the engine (AMM 63-
11-00,4-1).

13.
Disconnect the forward element (3) of the tail rotor drive shaft (AMM 65-11-00,4-1).

14.
Remove the clamps from the engine mount (5):

a.
cut and remove the lockwire,

b.
loosen and remove the clamps from the engine mount (5).

CAUTION: DISENGAGE THE CABLES AND THE PIPES YOU REMOVED TO MAKE IT EASIER TO MOVE
THE ENGINE. REMOVE ALL THE "TYRAPS" THAT CONNECT THE PIPES AND THE COMPONENTS OF
THE ELECTRICAL HARNESSES.
15.
Lift the engine and disengage it from the transmission deck.

NOTE: LIFT THE ENGINE A SMALL DISTANCE TO DISENGAGE THE MANIFOLD DRAIN (7) FROM THE
TRANSMISSION DECK. THEN MOVE THE ENGINE AFT TO DISCONNECT THE ENGINE-TO-MGB
COUPLING SHAFT.
16.
Install the engine on its support stand, ARRIEL engine [350A93-5400-00]. If necessary, use
the wheel assembly, engine base [365A91-5410-00] for the engine stand to make it easier to
move it on the ground.

17.
Remove the hoisting system and remove the sling, ARRIEL engine [365A91-5400-02] from
the engine.

18.
Inspect the firewall for crack, distortion, weld separation, loose rivets, etc...

19.
Inspect the transmission support platform for crack, distortion, corrosion, loose rivets, etc.

20.
Inspect the condition of the feedthrough seals at the firewall.

21.
Remove and discard the feedthrough seals if necessary

22.
Remove dampers (AMM 71-41-00,4-1) and inspect them for condition.

23.
Clean the removed items and the transmission support platform with white spirit CM 208.

C
CLOSE-UP

1.
Remove if necessary, the portable crane.

2.
Make sure you put covers on the engine inlet and outlet:
a.
Install if necessary, the cover, ARRIEL engine tail pipe [350A92-5411-00].

b.
Put the cover, engine air intake [350A92-5481-00] if necessary on the engine air-intake.

3.
If you replace the engine, disassemble the engine you removed (AMM 71-11-00,4-3).

4.
If the engine is to be removed for a long time, put it under a cover away from all humidity.
Or, refer to the EMM TURBOMECA to do the external preservation procedure and put it in
the container, ARRIEL engine [881-4-400-000].

5.
Install the engine (AMM 71-11-00,4-2).

II INSTALLATION OF ENGINE
A. JOB SET-UP
1. Comply with the general safety instructions for the electrical power supply system (AMM 24-00-
00,3-1).
2. Comply with the general safety instructions for the mechanical assemblies (AMM 60-00-00,3-1).
3. Comply with the general safety instructions for the power plant (AMM 71-00-00,3-1).
4. Remove the engine from the container, ARRIEL engine [881-4-400-000], if necessary. Then refer
to the EMM TURBOMECA and do the external depreservation procedure.
5. The engine is replaced, assemble the engine you install (AMM 71-11-00,4-4).
6. Install the access equipment.
7. Install the shoring equipment.

B PROCEDURE(REFER FIGURE 2)
.
1. Check the condition of the engine mount (cracks, corrosion, attachments, condition of dampers).
2. Check the condition of the attachment clamps of the engine mount. If there are any defects, replace
the clamps.
3. Check the condition of the feedthrough seals on the firewall.
4. If necessary, remove and discard the feedthrough seals.
5. Install, if necessary, the feedthrough seals in the firewall.
6. Apply the (AMM 63-11-00,4-2) on the splines of the MGB drive shaft
7. Install the sling, ARRIEL engine [365A91-5400-02] on the hoisting points (2) of the engine. Then
attach the hoisting system used and adjust its tension
8. Remove the engine from the upport stand, ARRIEL engine [350A93-5400-00].
CAUTION:MAKE SURE THAT THE AREA IS CLEAR OF THE CABLES AND THE PIPES. THIS WILL MAKE
IT EASIER TO HANDLE AND TO MOVE THE ENGINE.
9. Lift the engine and install it on the transmission deck.
NOTE:MOVE THE ENGINE FROM THE REAR OF THE HELICOPTER TO ENGAGE THE ENGINE DRIVE
SPLINES IN THE SPLINED FLANGE OF THE ENGINE-TO-MGB COUPLING. THEN ENGAGE THE
MANIFOLD DRAIN (7) IN THE TRANSMISSION DECK BY LOWERING THE ENGINE GRADUALLY UNTIL
IT IS ON THE ENGINE MOUNT (5).
10. Install the attachment clamps on the engine mount (5):
a. Put the attachment clamps in their positions on the engine mount (5) and torque them to the
value
b. Safety the attachment clamps on the engine mount (5) with the lockwire CM 776.
11. Install the forward element (3) of the tail rotor drive shaft (AMM 65-11-00,4-2).
12. Attach the housing (9) of the engine-to-MGB drive shaft to the engine (AMM 63-11-00,4-2).
13. Remove the hoisting system and remove the sling, ARRIEL engine [365A91-5400-02].
14. Connect the electrical harness (6) to:
a. The two connectors on the transmission deck.
b. The two FADEC connectors in the cargo hold.
15. Install the hatch that gives access to the FADEC connectors on the transmission deck:
a. Put the hatch in its position.
b. Install and tighten the hatch attachment bolts.
c. Apply a bead of sealing compound CM 6068 around the plate and on the screws.
16. Connect the power supply cables and the electrical bonding braid of the starter generator
(AMM 24-31-00,4-1).
17. Connect the electrical bonding braids (4) and (8):
a. Do the electrical bonding on the attachment points of the braids (4) and (8).
b. Install the electrical bonding braid (8) and its attachment bolt on the firewall.
c. Install the electrical bonding braid (4) and its attachment bolt on the transmission deck.
18. If optional engine wash compressor installed:
a. Connect the compressor wash pipe (10) to the firewall:
i. Connect and tighten the engine wash pipe (10).
ii. ( )Safety the engine wash pipe (10) with the lockwire CM 776.
b. PRE MOD 073227 (Figure2, DETAIL E)
i. Make sure that the discharge duct of bleed valve(1) is engaged by 20-25 mm(.79-.98 in.) on
each end fitting (23) and (25)

Loosen the clamps securing the bleed valve (1) discharge duct on each end fitting (23) and
(25).
Disengage the discharge duct from bleed valve (1).

Using a pencil, make a mark between 20 and 25 mm (.79 - .98 in.) from the end of each
end fitting (23) and (25).
Install the bleed valve (1) discharge duct on end fittings (23) and (25), up to the marks.

Tighten the clamps securing the bleed valve (1) discharge duct on each end fitting (23) and
(25).
ii. Connect end fitting (25) at the firewall.
iii. Install clamp (26).
iv. Position end fittings (23) and (25) so that the bleed valve (1) discharge duct does not
interfere with the engine air intake and to
( )a = 20 mm (.79 in.) min.
( )b = 12 mm (.48 in.) min.
v. Tighten clamps (24) and (26).
NOTE:IT IS THE POSITION OF END FITTING (23) WHICH DETERMINES THE ROUTING OF THE BLEED
VALVE (1) DISCHARGE DUCT.
vi. Check that both ends of the bleed valve (1) discharge duct do not rotate at their attachment
to end fittings (23) and (25).
vii. Check that there is no displacement of the bleed valve (1) discharge duct by slightly
moving it.
c. POST MOD 073227 (Figure 2, DETAIL F)

i. Connect the discharge duct of bleed valve (1) at the firewall, then install and tighten clamp
(28).
ii. Install the attachment clamp (27).
19. Connect the vent pipe of engine oil tank (20) to tee union (22), on the right hand side of the
engine (DETAIL D):
a. Connect the vent pipe (20) of the engine oil tank with the sleeve (21) to the Tee union (22).

b. Install and tighten the two attachment clamps (19).

20. Connect the fuel return pipe (18) to the right side of the engine accessories unit (DETAIL
D):
a. Connect and tighten the fuel return pipe (18).

b. Safety the fuel return pipe (18) with the lockwire CM 776.

21. Connect the P2 pipe (13) to the left side of the engine compressor casing (DETAIL A):
a. Connect and tighten the P2 pipe (13) on the compressor casing.

b. Safety the P2 pipe (13) with the lockwire CM 776.

22. Connect the oil inlet pipe (15) and the oil discharge pipe (14) to the right side of the engine

accessories unit (DETAIL B):
a. Connect and tighten the oil inlet pipe (15).

b. Connect and tighten the oil discharge pipe (14).

c. Safety the oil inlet pipe (15) and the oil discharge pipe (14) with the lockwire CM 776.

23. Connect the fuel supply pipe (16) to the left side of the engine accessories unit (DETAIL
C):
a. Connect and tighten the fuel supply pipe (16) on the elbow union (17).

b. Safety the fuel supply pipe (16) with the lockwire CM 776.

24. Connect the ventilation duct of the starter-generator (11) at the firewall, then install and
tighten the clamp (12).
25. Install all the TYRAPS that hold the pipes and the electrical harness elements in their
positions.
C. CLOSE-UP
1. Detach sling, ARRIEL engine [365A91-5400-02] from the hoisting system and then
remove sling from engine hoisting points (2).
2.
Install the main rotor blades (AMM 62-11-00,4-1)

3. Install the engine cowling (AMM 53-51-00,4-1).

4. Replace the engine, do the procedures below:

a. Do the depreservation of the engine (EMM TURBOMECA).

b. Record the number of engine operation cycles (AMM 71-00-00,3-2).

5. Do the checks of the engine after maintenance work (AMM 71-11-00,6-1).

6. Make sure the engine oil level is correct, add oil if necessary (AMM 79-00-00,3-1).

7. Remove the access means.
