Soap Bubble Project (1106)

Purpose/Objective
 To demonstrate the law of electrostatic that happens in real life. Also to know the

reason why the bubbles are attracted to the PVC pipe.

Materials
1. PVC pipe 2. Bubble [soap or bubble ward]

3. Cloth

Methods
1. First prepare the bubble water with soap and water.

2. Second, get a straw to collect some of bubble water, and blow it on the surface of

table.

3. Third, rub the PVC pipe with cloth to cause the triboelectric effect.
4. Grab the pipe and close to the bubble, then you will see how do the PVC pipe attract

the bubble.
Analysis
The reason why the bubbles go with the PVC pipe is because the PVC pipe is

being wiped with a cloth that causes the PVC pipe to have mostly negatively charge and

the bubbles have equally charge. (Positive and Negative) So the PVC pipes negatively

charge is attracted to the positively charge in the bubbles. So thats why the side that

the PVC pipe is attracted to the bubbles move with the PVC pipe.

Every object has electrostatic which can related to bubble and PVC that we use.

PVC is insulator that will not let electron move away from it. The reason why we need to

rub cloth with PVC because Electron will move to the part that you rubbed. The electron

on the PVC pipe will attract the proton on the bubble, which will make bubble follow

PVC pipe.
