Standard Two: Sustaining a School Culture and Instructional Program.


Observation, Participation, and/or Leadership in the:

A building-level education leader applies knowledge that promotes the success of every student by
sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning through collaboration,
trust, and a personalized learning environment with high expectations for students; creating and
evaluating a comprehensive, rigorous and coherent curricular and instructional school program;
developing and supervising the instructional and leadership capacity of school staff; and promoting the
most effective and appropriate technologies to support teaching and learning within a school environment.

Personal Statement.Standard#2: Leaders believe a thriving school culture is based on relationships


and relational trust.

Goal Standard #2: Empower myself and colleagues toward a culture of professional growth.

Artifact/Standard #2: Implement Throwback Thursdays, provide Professional Development to staff in


regard to district initiatives.

EdCamp: PD Palooza idea of EdCamp. Explained to
staff, gathered volunteers, set up
8 sessions for staff to attend. A
good start. Hoping to grow this
next time. It was received
positively and all felt the
learning was meaningful.
2.2 11-3-15 1 Cultures of Thinking Inquiry Facilitated a Compass Points
Team Thinking Routine on PD day,
will use information from staff
to formulate an action plan for
PD and Throwback Thursdays
for C of T. Time to grow our
thinking together!

2.4 11-3-15 1 Kahoot: Building Norms Created and Implemented staff


Kahoot for building norms. This
was great! Staff enjoyed the
time to learn and laugh.

2.2 12-3-15 1 Throwback Thursday: Initiated staff PD before school


Cultures of Thinking called Throwback Thursday.
The focus was Language today.
The team presented the
categories of questions and
questions to ask within the
categories. Staff was excited
and receptive.

2.2 1-21-16 1 Throwback Thursday: Discussed the next layer of The


Cultures of Thinking Cultural Forces, Language.
Discussed how to get more staff
involved.

2.2 9-30-16 1 Throwback Thursday: Provided additional training to


Fountas and Pinnell interested staff on the Literacy
Continuum

2.4 12-17-15 1 Twitter Chat: Participated in a Twitter chat.

great fun! It was moderated by
JW in Livonia. Very uplifting
and fun for break.

Grade 1 We reworked her Readers
Workshop and lit groups. Shes
implementing strategy groups
into her Daily 5.

2.2 1-22-16 1 HVS Elem. PD afternoon at Gave the staff an update on the
Heritage Elementary committee. Showed committee
committee presentation on progress on Language part of
Cultures of Thinking. the CofT pie and highlighted
what weve began work on,
discussed the upcoming CofT
Heritage Classroom labs.

2.3 8-29-16 7 HVS EIS Fountas and Participated in training day,


Pinnell Training began preparing materials to
bring information back to staff.

2.3 8-31-16 1 HVS F&P Training to staff Delivered collaborative


powerpoint to staff. Beginning
of many trainings on F&P.

2.3 9-16-16 7 HVS EIS and para-educator Participated in beginning of the


training day year training day for EIS district
team.

2.2 9-30-16 1 Throwback Thursday: Worked with staff to understand


Fountas and Pinnell the new comprehension
conversation.

2.2 11-17-16 1 Throwback Thursday: Discussed the levels of a reader


Fountas and Pinnell and how to move students.

2.2 2-17-17 2 Heritage School Presented to staff on K-3
