Thank You
Women are inferior to men...was a common belief in the 17th century. In the 17th and

18th century in Western Europe during the European Enlightenment philosophers wanted to

improve the societies government, religious tolerance, and social role of women. Philosophers

believed that in order to make society better people needed individual freedom.

John Locke a Philosopher from the late 17th century believed in a world where the

government was run by the people. Which makes sense because how can the government know

what the people want? It cant but the people know what the people want so it will just make

everything more peaceful that way. So therefore he had a democracy because he believed it was

better for everyone.

Voltaire wanted people to have the freedom to choose for themselves. They should be

able to do as they wish and have the freedom of abilities. They should also have the ability to

practice whatever religion they wish to practice. Everyone had believed that god or nature had

given them power. There were two things that they needed to have reasoning and thats

observations and clearheaded which also helped to understanding the truth.

Adam Smith believed in the work of Isaac Newton. He agreed with the force called

gravity. Or in other words he believed in the existence of natural laws. He also believed that

every man was perfectly able to pursue their own interest. Men should be free to do as they wish

without any limitations as long as they dont harm anyone.

Mary also believed in the Isaac Newtons law. However she believed that women should

get educated and not be housewifes. Just like men, women she be able to work and be smart and

to get educated. She wanted equality for women. When she was young she grew up in a society

that believed that women shouldnt be educated and she was determined to change that.
