Florence, AL, May 24, 2017 --(PR.com)-- OnPoint Manufacturing, Inc., a Performance HealthCare
Products, Inc. company, the leader in on-demand apparel manufacturing, announced today that it is giving
back to the local community by donating several Singer sewing machines to Central High School of
Florence, Alabama.
In a special arrangement with Singer Sewing Machines, OnPoint Manufacturing has developed an
initiative to foster early sewing programs that give young designers and seamstresses the necessary
assistance and tools they need to jump start their careers.
When we approached Adam Himber at the Shoals Economic Development Authority about the
possibility of a donation, he immediately thought of the great work that Rachel McFall was doing with
their Family and Consumer Science program at Central High School, stated J. Kirby Best, Chairman of
OnPoint Manufacturing.
OPM has given Central High School an opportunity to advance in the modern sewing era. This donation
will be a tremendous addition to my classroom. Currently I am teaching students to sew with four
different machine models. This takes valuable time to explain. Using older, worn machines is
troublesome with numerous problems. These new machines are all the same model and will allow me to
teach one lesson, perform one demonstration, and troubleshoot in a much more efficient way. This will
allow for ease of use and increase productivity, states Rachel McFall, Consumer Science Teacher,
Central High School.
Rachel continues, The goal of my Family and Consumer Science classroom is to spark an interest in
sewing. My department has many projects planned for the upcoming year and we will definitely put these
new computerized machines to use for personal use as well as public service.
OnPoint Manufacturing has proven to be a great company and community partner to have in the Shoals.
They understand the value of a skilled craftsman and the generous donation of new Singer sewing
machines to area high schools will help students learn sewing skills that will lead to future career
opportunities in the commercial sewing industry, says Adam Himber, Existing Industry Coordinator,
Shoals Economic Development Authority.
