1. A student carries out an experiment to investigate the relationship between base current,
Ib, and collector current, Ic, of a transistor.

The arrangement of the apparatus for the experiment is shown in Diagram 1.1.

The rheostat is adjusted until the miliammeter shows the corresponding reading, Ib, as
shown in Diagram 1.2.

The procedure is repeated with different values of Ib as shown in Diagrams 1.2, 1.3, 1.4,
1.5 and 1.6 on pages 4 and 5.

Hookes Law states that the extension of a spring is directly
proportional to the force acting on it provided the elastic limit of the
spring is not exceeded.
