Its been TOOOOOO LONG . . . So here is the scoop on whats up with SLY.
The SLY Board of Directors met in November of 2015 to discuss the future of SLY. Three
options were considered.
Option 1: Dissolve the organization and distribute its assets to other churches or
non-profit organizations.
Option 2: Find a new director and continue the ministry much as it has been run.
Option 3: Encourage a loosely knit cooperative of church youth groups represented
by adult and student leaders. The students would be encouraged to develop and
plan activities to promote events for all the groups to attend. It would provide a
platform for friendship development among small youth groups. SLYs resources
were made available for these groups and events.
Option 3 was chosen at that time as the best avenue for continuing SLYs goal of
developing student leaders. The teens and leaders met a few times and the groups met a
few times, however without a director to provide consistent vision and organization it
hasnt really worked out.
In April of this year the board met again to evaluate the current and future state of the
ministry. It is clear that without a director SLY cannot function as it did in the past. Our
structure and function must be adjusted. The board is fully committed to continuing to
support spiritual challenge and growth in young people and rural youth ministry in local
churches. So, it was decided to investigate dispersing our assets to other non-profit
organizations or churches and using our existing funds to provide scholarships for
spiritual growth opportunities for youth, for example; camps, Bible school, BTC, etc.
The distribution of our assets has begun. We are focusing our attention first on the
various youth groups we have worked with over these last 9 years. Upriver Bible Church
will be taking over the charter bus and putting it to use for Joy Club and Bible quizzing
activities. We are still looking for the best places to allocate the remaining resources.
Please pray that, as a board, we would be wise as we seek the Lord concerning the
dispersal of assets, as well as the administration of the scholarship program.
Being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Phil. 1:6

Relentless Pursuit
Summer Mission Trip
June 12 -July 2, 2017
Teens from three different communities are joining forces to reach out to three
rural communities in Montana. Their days will include personal pursuit of
their own relationships with God and service projects at local churches.
Evenings will include games, music, skits, and personal testimonies.
Each student has been asked to raise $250 for the trip to cover their individual
expenses and the team needs to raise an additional $9000 to cover travel and
outreach costs.
We at SLY, and perhaps you also, have seen the spiritual growth that can occur
in the life of a teen who is involved in a mission and know the potential impact
of this summer trip.
