CONDITIONAL CLAUSE RESULT CLAUSE EXAMPLES

Zero conditional
If + subject + present simple, subject + present simple If you heat water to 100 C, it

First conditional
If + subject + present simple, Subject + future simple If you study hard, you will pass.

USES
ZERO CONDITIONAL: Para hablar de verdades universals.

1ST CONDITIONAL: condicional real. Si la condicin se da, es muy probable que ocurra lo que aparece
en la frase ppal.

2nd CONDITIONAL: Para situaciones hipotticas. Es menos probable que suceda.

3rd CONDITIONAL: Para situaciones irreales, imaginarias.


VARIACIONES
1ST CONDITIONAL:

CONDITIONAL CLAUSE:
UNLESS ( a menos que )= IFNOT
Example: Si no llueve, ir al ro = If it doesnt rain, I will go to the river.
UNLESS it rains, I will go to the river.
TIME EXPRESSIONS: as soon as (tan pronto como), before, after, when, provided/as long as
(con tal de que)
RESULT CLAUSE: El futuro simple se puede susituir por un: imperativo = if you go to the shop,
buy/ dont buy bread.
modal (should, can, may): if you go to the
shop, you should buy bread.

2nd CONDITIONAL:

CONDITIONAL CLAUSE:
UNLESS = IFNOT
RESULT CLAUSE: El condicional simple se puede sustituir por un modal (might, could):
Example: Unless it rained, we could go to the river.

3RD CONDITIONAL:

RESULT CLAUSE: Would have puede sustituirse por COULD HAVE / MIGHT HAVE
