Xiamen
The approach to Xiamen will no doubt be busy with local fishing boats and small craft. Also be aware of outbound vessels leaving the buoyed channel.
The pilot does not board until buoy 17, so care must be taken when in the buoyed channel at the start of the approach and in the Qungyu Shuidao
channel. A good lookout for outbound traffic must be kept as these are narrow channels with not much room for manoeuvring.
The pilots work on Channel 16, 08. The Pilotage involves a dredged channel , passing close to numerous buoys and there is also a 2-3 kt current on
approaching the berth. Tugs will probably make fast near the berth.
Reporting to becarried out as marked on the chart.

ETA
The Master should advise the vessel's ETA to the state agent, or through the local agent to the state
agency, 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to the vessel's arrival at the pilot station. The ETA message should
include the time and date of the vessel's arrival and sea/fresh water draughts.
If there is any dangerous cargo onboard, the Master should also report details of that cargo including
description, packaging, IMO code and gross/net weight.
Should the vessel's ETA or other circumstances change, prior to arrival, the Master should send further
messages.
