The resulting square footage number indicates the
square feet that one fixture will illuminate to a level of
100 footcandles. (100 footcandles has been chosen as a .5

STEP 4"
Divjde the square foatage number (Step 3) into the total
square feet of the room to be illuminated" The result is
the number of fixtures needed to provide 100 footcandles
of light.
Example: Room 24'x 50'=1200 sq. ft.

STEP 5.
Determine the number of footcandles you need from the
FoOTCANDLE CHART on the right of this page. Divlde
100 into that number, and then multiply by the number
of fjxtures derived in Step 4. The result will
be the number of {ixtures you need.
Example: A. lf the area to be lit is an office drafting
room, you need 200 footcandles.
Divide 100 into 200 and multiply the resu lt
by 54.
