andtorn,leadingtoinflammationandpain.

Plantarfascia:longligamenttypestructurewhichsupportsthelongitudinalarch
whenwalking.Intheimagetotherighttherearethreebands,themedial,central
andlateralband.Thefasciaoriginatesonthecalcaneus,theheelboneand
extendstoinsertintothebottomofthetoes.Theplantarfasciaisoneofthemain
structureswhichsupportsthearch(alongwiththeposteriortibialtendon).In
thosewithfaultyfootmechanics,mostcommonlyoverpronation,theplantar
fasciacanbecomeoverstressed,stretchedandexperiencemicroscopictears
leadingtoinflammationandpain.Chronicaggravationofthefasciacanleadto
plantarfasciosis,adegenerativecondition.
