organization in Somaliland. ANCAMTA carry out three professional services: Engineering,
Management Consulting and Capacity Building Building. Our professional services are

1.4 Our Core Competence
We strengthened our competence to respond to needs of our clients and partners in Somaliland.
ANCAMTA implements its projects through technical approaches of engineering, management
consulting and capacity building.

ANCAMTA maintains strategic alliances with the partners and consulting associates, UN
agencies, local authorities, business, community, LNGOs and INGOs. We maintain good
affiliation with local experts, government ministries, universities and research institutions, media
houses, legal experts, specialists in various sectors.

The following are the key works and services carried out:

1. We provide food to drought affected local communities in Garadag and Elefwein with the
support of local business men and Diaspora from the community
2. We worked water distribution system including concrete tank construction, kiosks, and
animal troughs. The project was emergency WASH response to most vulnerable IDPs
and people living in humanitarian emergency in Ainabo district, Sool region. The project
objectives were to increase equal and sustained access to safe drinking water, appropriate
sanitation and hygiene promotion for the people in humanitarian crisis and emergency
from vulnerable flood and conflict-affected HH and IDPs in Ainabo, Sool regions.
3. We worked community Capacity Building of Hygiene and Sanitation and Development
of Hygiene and Sanitation IEC materials. The project was community capacity building
for Hygiene and Sanitation Promotion and improvement of water safety. Capacity
building of hygiene promoters through training on Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation
Transformation (PHAST) tools, conduct community dialogue sessions on hygiene and
sanitation issues, using appropriate Information Education and Communication (IEC)
materials in close coordination with community leaders and IDP settlements leaders.
4. We conducted Hydrogeological and geophysical studies in Durdur valley in Awdal
region, Somaliland. We took Geophysical and Hydrogeological survey studies in Durdur
valley in Awdal region. The objective of the assignment was to identify potential drilling
borehole sites for 15 Boreholes for possible future development of both human
consumption and agricultural development. Other activities were included environmental

and socioeconomic impact assessments for the developing and pumping an increasing
number of Boreholes.
5. We conducted Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation (PHAST) TOT for
community resource persons in Togdheer region. Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation
Transformation (PHAST) training were conducted for 30 community members. The
training was designed to maximize community understanding rights and equality of men
and women to WASH, gender participation and to encourage participation of illiterate
and marginalized people, who are often women and IDPs affected by droughts and
conflicts. PHAST training was intended to raise awareness in the early weeks of the start-
up phase of a water and sanitation project of the need for improved hygiene behaviors
and sanitation to complement and get the most out of a new or rehabilitated water supply
system.
6. We provided support many local business organizations in areas of proposal
development, business plan establishment, creating accounting systems and staff training
of marketing and business performance improvement
7. We participated public sector improvement and strengthening functional review,
institutional reforms
8. We worked on environmental impact assessments of water resources development sector
9. We conducted Training on NGO Management in Hargeisa, Marodijeex Region in 7
Months for Civil Service Institute (CSI). The assignment was to train government civil
servants and NGO involved people in Hargeisa. The training was focusing
organizational development and leadership, governance, financial and accounting, human
resources management, administration, project cycle management, sustainability and
public relations.
10. We provided services of institutional capacity building in areas of organizational and
financial resources management and program management in Hargeisa, Marodijeex
Region. The assignment successfully developed the institutional capacity of Bulsho TV
media network organization. In terms of organizational and financial resources
management, the assignment accomplished the deliverables of organization
profile/brochure, reviewing the mission and vision, including values, strategic plan (5
years), developed filling system, financial management policy and procedure manual,

procurement manual, chart of accounts and fixed asset register, human resources manual,
staff appraisal forms.
11. We provided training on protection mainstreaming to an emergency in Education and
WASH interventions in Togdheer and Sanaag Regions, Somaliland. We applied
protection cluster guidelines to conduct protection mainstreaming training for WASH
partners and Secondary School Teachers in Burao and Erigavo.
12. We worked to establish internal control systems of policies and procedures (ISPP) and
capacity building training of staffs on the practical uses of ISPP manuals. The aim of the
assignment was to build the capacity of three local organizations in Somaliland in areas
of Internal control systems of policies and procedures, project cycle management,
administrative and leadership governance, financial resources management, human
resources management, sustainability and public relations. The deliverables of the
assignment were to establish Internal Control Systems of Policies and Procedures (ISPP)
and training staff on the practical uses of ISPP manual. It was provided support on
organizational development and capacity building, provide technical support and advice
on the institutional development; develop the strategic plan, operational plan, and action
plans; and prepare necessary arrangements for organizational success.
13. We developed project proposals and IDPs needs assessment for the improvement of
WASH facilities. We collected and analyzed information for the proposal writing. The
proposal analyzed the vulnerability of internally displaced people, returnees, refugees,
and the vulnerable host communities due to droughts and conflicts. We created clear
budget lines for indirect and direct costs and came up convincing solutions and
methodology for the project management.
14. We developed profiles of Internally Displaced People (IDPs) camps in Burao. We
established profiling assessments of Ali Hussein and Aden Suleiman camps for Internally
Displaced People in Burao, Somaliland. We collected information on gender related
problems, geographical and population data of the target IDPs. We collected, analyzed
and interpreted background of the IDPs population in terms their original places
including refugee camps, returnees from pastoral and agro pastoral areas after recurrent
droughts affected their livelihoods etc.

15. We constructed community Water Berkads in Higlada, Caroolay, Sarmaanyo and
Awrboogays villages in Sool and Sanaag Regions. The works were included the
excavation, embankments, loading and plastering of five community berkads. The 50
public latrines were constructed for the target communities and hygiene promotion
activities were undertaken. The constructed berkads were supported with fencing and
sanitation measures to make sure quality of water. The community management systems
were set up in all target locations.
16. We designed and constructed mini water distribution system including reservoir
construction, 2 Km pipeline, kiosks and animal troughs in Taleex, Sool Region. The
project rehabilitated the existing well and constructed new 25 Cum concrete tank. Apart
from the well and construction of the reservoir, it was procured and lied 2 Kms pipeline
from the reservoir to the village; the pipe was 3inch diameter with community water
points including 3 kiosks and 6 animal troughs; one for cattle/donkey, two for camel and
three for goats and sheep. The project was included new generator and construction of
care taker's & spare parts room and alternate pit latrine.
17. We strengthened capacity of small and medium business enterprises. The assignment
was to contribute capacity of 2 SMEs in Hargeisa. This building institutional capacity of
small and medium business enterprises was targeting Universal Trading Establishment
and Jannaale Pharmaceutical Organization. The assignment was supporting SMEs with
technical assistance (TA) to promote the development SMEs in areas of business plan
development, financial and accounting, marketing and demand analysis, asset
management and business promotions.
18. We worked emergency cash relief and water trucking to several drought affected
locations in Somaliland. The assignment was the distribution of emergency cash relief to
30,500 drought affected Households in 10 rural villages in Sool and Sanaag, and we
worked distribution of water trucking to several drought affected locations in Togdheer,
Sool ad Saaag regions.
19. We establishment of Internal Control systems of policies and procedures (ISPP) and
capacity building training of staffs on the practical uses of ISPP manuals. The aim of the
assignment was to build capacity of three local organizations in Somaliland in areas of
Internal control systems of policies and procedures, project cycle management,

administrative and leadership governance, financial resources management, human
resources management, sustainability and public relations. The deliverables of the

on the institutional development; develop strategic plan, operational plan and action

20. We provided consultancy services for the mapping and analyzing rights of women and
children to WASH facilities. The assignment was to strengthen community vulnerability
& capacity to response emergencies and establish community emergency preparedness &
management committees in improving WASH services management & sustainability.
21. We provided training services to improve capacity of Burao municipality staffs and
Community Resources Persons on procurement, logistics and contract management and
natural resources management. We trained 50 trainees including 15 staff of Burao
Municipality and 45 Community Resources Persons on procurement, logistics and
contract management and natural resources management including rights of people in
resilience to droughts of pastoral and agro pastoral communities. We developed training
plans through the principles of equal rights, transparency, participation, local
empowerment, community demand-responsiveness, greater downward accountability
based on the assessments. We established respective database for knowledge
management. We developed and produced classroom handouts, instructional materials,
aids and manuals. We assessed training effectiveness to ensure incorporation of taught
skills and techniques into employees work behavior.
22. We carried out geophysical and Hydrogeological investigations in three rural villages in
Dikhil, Djibouti. The objective is to evaluate hydro geological potential for drilling
boreholes in three impoverished communities living in these areas. The most potential
borehole sites were identified.
23. We worked humanitarian assistance and livelihood support project in Togdheer, Sool &
Sanaag regions. The project was subcontracted by Steadfast Voluntary Organization to
carry out humanitarian assistance and livelihood support project of CR and CFW related

activities to shallow wells, Desalting Ballis, Gully controls, improvement of roads and
environmental Sanitation towards drought affected area in Togdheer, Sool & Sanaag.
24. We worked capacity building of drought affected communities in rural areas in Togdheer
and Sanaag regions in Somaliland on sustainable management of Water, Hygiene and
Sanitation facilities. We trained 70 committee members for the sustainable management
of Water, Hygiene and Sanitation (WASH) facilities in rural areas in Togdheer and
Sanaag regions in Somaliland. Delivered training on water management, gender roles
analysis, O & M, drought resilient of water resource, climatic changes and effects on
water points.
25. We worked geological and hydro geological assessment in Garowe areas in Puntland.
We conducted Geological and hydro geological assessment in Garowe area in Puntland
for by NUWACO a private water supply organization in Garowe. The assignment
prepared preliminary groundwork for further underground water research in the area.
Limited scope of the study, the work was included preliminary geology/hydro geology
survey to make assessment of feasibility for additional study and make recommendation
for further more comprehensive geophysical/hydro geology survey.

3. Our Services

We work on three main business lines:

3.1 Engineering

ANCAMTA provides a broad spectrum of engineering services associated with water and
another civil engineering in public and private infrastructure and development/humanitarian
facilities. Generally, ANCAMTA engineering works fall into two types: consulting and
construction engineering. Our consulting engineering is for the design work of projects and
works predominantly in an office. Our construction engineering then takes the designs and
implements them as contractor work on the site, managing the construction of the structure.

6. Organizational Structure

ANCAMTA has a clear structure that is consist of Board of Directors, Managing Director,
Operation Manager, and three technical departments. The Board of Directors is comprised of
highly qualified professionals who have an eminent line of business in Somaliland and in the
international community. The chairman of the BoD provides technical advice, backstopping
support and guidance to the Managing Director by contributing leading managerial and technical
experience. The management team of ANCAMTA consists of chairman of the BoD, the
Managing Director, and Operational Manager.

The Managing Director is the head of the organization as he is responsible for the
implementation of programs and organizational strategies and policies. The Operation Manager

assists the Managing Director and acts as deputy Managing Director and he is responsible
technical operations and management of projects. ANCAMTA employs permanent staff and

berkads were supported with fencing and sanitation measures to make sure quality of water. The community
management systems were set up in all target locations.
