INSPECTION & TEST PROCEDURE
FOR STATIONARY
EQUIPMENT

1. SCOPE

This procedure covers the requirement of inspection & testing of stationary

Equipment.

Applicable documents

1. Specifications.
2. Work procedure.
3. Mechanical Drawings.
4. Civil Drawings.
Under mentioned activities are to be checked before installation of equipments.
Centerline marked on the foundation.
Elevation line marked on the foundation.
Bench mark on the foundation.
No cracks and no other harmful defects in concrete are observed.
Surfaces of concrete foundation are chipped uniformly.
Anchor bolts are straight and are on equal space as per drawings.
Dimensions of foundation are within the allowance specified by the client.

2. POSITIONING

INSPECTION & TEST PROCEDURE
FOR STATIONARY
EQUIPMENT

Check the positioned equipments on foundation as per orientation indicated on

relevant drawings. For adjustment & leveling of equipment, the carbon steel
shims shall be installed.

3. LEVLING

3.1 Check the leveling of base plate. All anchor bolts shall be set to the base
plate.
3.2 Check the grouting of the anchor bolts as per clients specs.
3.3 Check re-leveling of base plate after grouting & curing of anchor bolts.
3.4 Check that elevation of the equipment is with in tolerance of 3mm
from the designated elevation mentioned on drawings.
3.5 Check that the centerline of the equipment is within tolerance of 3mm
from the designated centerline.

4. VERTICAL ALIGNMENT

Check the vertical alignment by means of transit plumb bob or square level may be used for
smaller equipments. Checking shall be carried out in four vertical lines at 90 apart
from each other and around the equipment.
Checking of vertical alignment under a cloudy weather or before sunrise is recommended in
order to minimize the error by thermal expansion of equipment.

5. HORIZONTAL ALIGNMENT

5.1 Check the horizontal alignment by placing a level and carrying over it
on the equipment with in recommended tolerance.
5.2 Check that after alignment all foundation bolts are tightened uniformly.
The bolts shall be set as the top of bolts project from the nut by 2 to 5
pitches of thread after tightening.

6. INSPECTION OF INTERNAL PARTS

Check the internal fittings as per drawings/specs.

7. INSPECTION OF EXTERNAL PARTS

Check the installation of external parts like platform, ladder, man way
installations and connection to nozzles.

8. GROUTING

During & before grouting the following points shall be checked;

Mixing ratio of grout materials.
Grouting surface. (It should be free from rust, scale, oil or grease).
Curing time.

9. SHAFT ALAIGNMENT
9.1 Check the flanges face parallelism within 0.1mm/inch of nominal pipe
size or 3mm, whichever is smaller for pumps and reciprocating
compressors.
9.2 Check the clearance between flange face to face, that should be gasket
thickness 0.8mm
9.3 Check the shaft alignment before connecting the piping connection to
the equipment after grouting.
9.4 Check the final shaft alignment after connecting the piping connection
to the equipment.
9.5 Check the distance between shaft ends and/or coupling hubs in
accordance with manufacturers drawings. It should be within tolerance.
