1) Write a short essay on the academic integrity.

Academic integrity is taking responsibility for ones own work, being

individually accountable, and demonstrating intellectual honesty and ethical
behavior Academic integrity is the foundation upon which students, faculty,
and staff build their educational and professional careers. 1 This is what is
consider by Texas Tech community as an academic integrity. If as students,
we take the responsibility for our work, we would be better professional and
continuously increasing our academic skills. The Petroleum Engineering
college has the challenge to educate professionals with outstanding technical
knowledge, and trusts on the ethical behavior of all his students. If the
decisions taken by the students are aligned with the values associate with
academy integrity, this would be reflected in the academic results of the
graduate students and in the professional career of themselves.
The academic integrity is compound by a lot of little actions and decisions.
The classical example is cheating during a test or copying a homework.
Universities use the exam in order to obtain an objective value that reflects
the skills acquired by the students. Cheating during exams or copying your
partner homework, shows not only a low knowledge about the topic but also
very low ethical qualities. It is our commitment maintain a good image as a
community, that is why we must report any action that attack the academic
integrity.
If a student is found responsible for cheating during exam, copying homework
or providing false information, should be scored with the lowest grade. If this
student does this actions recurrently, he should not be allowed to continue
being part of Texas Tech community.
Statement of honor:
As a student of the Petroleum Engineer Department, I undertake to:
Resolve my exams and quices without unpermitted help from other
students or technological devices.
Respect the directions of the professor in each homework.
Any information from a third party will be properly cited.

2) Watch the TTU video on active shooter
http://www.depts.ttu.edu/ttpd/active_shooter.php

The presentation about active shooter exposes what an active shooter is and
which are the characteristic than could be recognized in this person. Also, the
presentation try to warning us about how to identified a potential active
shooter and what to do if we were involved in this situation.
An active shooter is someone who participate in a random or systematic
shooting spree, demonstrating their intent to continuously harm others. His
objective is mass murdering and he has a desire to kill other people. He
knows that probably he is going to die. His only concern is keep
systematically killing until he gets caught. About his profile, most of the time,
he does not have a criminal history, and probably has psychiatric problems.
There is a high probability that he has been harassed at work or school and
suffered in silent.

In order to identify early warnings signs of an active shooter, we need to be

aware about changes in dress expressions of the person. Identify if he is
under anxiety or stress, if the suspect abuse of drugs or play violent video
games.

If we are involved in an active shooting situation, we should take the

following measures:
Guided by your instincts. This feeling say that you need to keep alive.
Dont be in panic.
Get out. Get distance from the shooter. Look for a safe spot and then
try to contact the emergencies.
Hide out. Block the door and barricade it. Take the furniture to avoid
the shooter get into the places. Turn off the lights and be quiet.
Take out, Defend. Counterattack.
Help injured people.
If you are at an open area, look for cover that can stop bullets and run
straight to it.
When you see the police, save your weapon and show your hand. Tell
them what just happened.

3) Describe the maximum limit of O2 , N 2 ,C O2 , H 2 O , and other non-
hydrocarbon that should be stated on the gas contract.

Compon Limit concentration

ent
O2 <0.1% by volumen

N2 <2%

C O2 <2%

H2O 7lb/MMCF

S < 5 grain

H2 S <0.25 grain /100 ft3

Dust Free

4) Give the description for hydrate

Hydrate is a mineral compound, which involved water and molecules smaller
than n-pentane. This water crystal form may appear when the small nonpolar
molecules contact water at ambient temperatures (<100F) and moderate
pressures (>180psia). (Petrowiki, 2017)

5) Shortly describe the function of line heater

Preventing the formation of hydrates in piping systems. This is
necessary when it is expected that the temperature of the gas will fall
below the temperature of hydrates formation for certain pressure. The
decrease of the temperature could be due to a choke system, or the
contact between gas transmission line and ground. (Sivalls, 1987)
Aid in the separation process of oil/water emulsion stream. (Sivalls,
1987)

6) Hydrate can be found at the temperature above 32F, true or false?

True

7) From the lecture note/presentation slide, give the name of the topics
that should be on the gas contract.
Gas quality specifications and requirements (Limit concentrations of
impurities and nonhydrocarbon elements, temperature, and heating
value)
Ownerships and allocation of products
Measuring Equipment and Testing (Standards to be used)
8) Do the gas revenue calculation for MMBTU basis. The given
information are as follows:
20 wells
Gas production = 4 MMSCF/day/well
Oil production = 5 bbl/MMSCF
Dry heating value = 1250 BTU/SCF
Henry Hub first of month price = $8.00 / MMBTU
Avg month oil WTI price = $50.00/bbl
6% shrinkage and pipeline losses
Gas contract info: Gas price is Henry Hub first of month less $0.20/MMBTU
Oil Contract: Average month WTI less $2.25/bbl

Calculate the revenue from gas per month

9) For a natural gas with the molecular weight of 20.3 lb/lbmol, use the
chart in the lecture to find the hydrate formation temperature in F,
R, C, and K for the pressure of 1000 psia.
20,3 lb/lbmol
g= =0.7
28,97 lb/lbmol

Hydrate formation temperature: 65 F=525 R 18,3 C=291,3 K

10) Use the chart given in the lecture to estimate the natural gas
temperature after the choke.
The given information is
Initial inlet pressure (before choke) = 3000 psia
Pressure after the choke = 1000 psia
Temperature before the choke = 140F
Condensate production with gas = 30 bbl/MMSCF

P=3000 psia1000 psia=2000 psia

Temperature after the choke:

T f =T i T +T correction =140 F70 F +5 F=75 F
11) By using Figure 1 from Sivalls Inc book, calculate the
temperature that the line heater should heat the natural gas to,
before the choke, to prevent hydrate.
The gas specific gravity is 0.6. The pressure before choke is 2000 psia. The
pressure after the choke is 1000 psia. The temperature before the choke is
80F.
