3. What sampling scheme you will muse in following situations?

a. A study to find out preference and people for shampoos in urban market.
The participants were chosen randomly from the urban cities, belonging to the
age group 15 to 45 of different income and educational level. The data collection is age
specific as the people of this age group are more beauty conscious and very particular
about the usage of shampoo for hair care.
Each of sample respondents was asked to judge how similar or dissimilar the product
categories are, using 1-7 point likert scale, 1-denoting very dissimilar and 7- denoting
very dissimilar. Thus for 8 product categories of shampoo, pairs of shampoo
products were to be judged These similarity judgments were then presented in a matrix
form. A single distance matrix was constructed with integral values by averaging
consumers judgment matrix to an approximated figure.

b. A survey to study the potential users of microwave oven in Delhi.

Proper sampling of the field is important to obtain a representative sample of the field. Sample a
field at a minimum of three sample locations. Choose sample locations that are representative
of the entire field. Avoid sampling small areas of low spots or ridges that do not represent the
majority of the field. Using a soils map may be advantageous to determine if the field has major
change in soil classification. If there are major changes in soil classification within a field, you
should break the fields into sub-sites and sample accordingly.

When sampling in field, soil samples should be taken to 2 feet (preferable 3 feet) in one-foot
increments with each foot kept separately. If there seems to be large differences in moisture
contents between samples, it would be advisable to sample an extra location or two. The hand
sampling method will be helpful in such situations when you see disagreement between
samples. Take the samples as quickly as possible and store in zip-loc bags. This will prevent
the loss of moisture to evaporation. After collecting samples, place the samples in the cooler to
keep the samples at a moderate temperature. It is absolutely imperative that the samples are
placed in a sealed container.

c. A survey to study the usage of laptops in the small office segment-All India Level.
Business honors students who had received laptops completed an open-ended assessment survey
after one semester of being in the laptop program. Sample survey questions asked about (a)
benets and/or drawbacks of program, (b) whether the physical layout of classroom provided for
optimal learning, (c) whether laptop program promoted interactions with student and faculty, (d)
advantages/disadvantages of working in a multitasking environment (e.g. computers used for
email, IM, surng net, taking notes, online in-class activities), and (e) whether the semester met
their expectations. The students completed the survey using Microsoft Word and emailed the
survey to an administrative assistant. The assistant then compiled the surveys discarding student
names into one le. The le was sent to the researcher for analysis, and all survey responses
became completely anonymous to the researcher
CASE STUDY 1
1. Which data collection method would you prefer? Why?
Primary data collection method is the best source of information method. Always good for the survey.
Advantages
Relatively easy to administer
Can be developed in less time (compared to other data-collection methods)
Cost-effective, but cost depends on survey mode
Can be administered remotely via online, mobile devices, mail, email, kiosk, or telephone.
Conducted remotely can reduce or prevent geographical dependence
Capable of collecting data from a large number of respondents
Numerous questions can be asked about a subject, giving extensive flexibility in data
analysis
With survey software, advanced statistical techniques can be utilized to analyze survey data
to determine validity, reliability, and statistical significance, including the ability to analyze
multiple variables
A broad range of data can be collected (e.g., attitudes, opinions, beliefs, values, behavior,
factual).
Standardized surveys are relatively free from several types of errors

2. How would you analyze the data gathered from this study?

We used Excel to do some basic data analysis tasks to see whether it is a reasonable alternative to using
a statistical package for the same tasks. We concluded that Excel is a poor choice for statistical analysis
beyond textbook examples, the simplest descriptive statistics, or for more than a very few columns. The
problems we encountered that led to this conclusion are in four general areas :

Missing values are handled inconsistently, and sometimes incorrectly.

Data organization differs according to analysis, forcing you to reorganize your data in many ways
if you want to do many different analyses.

Many analyses can only be done on one column at a time, making it inconvenient to do the same
analysis on many columns.

Output is poorly organized, sometimes inadequately labeled, and there is no record of how an
analysis was accomplished.

3. Design a suitable questionnaire.

CASE STUDY II

1. Some marketers are of the belief that advertising Coke through Aguilera has shown much
larger sales of Coke as compared to cities which believe and practice endorsing Coke via non-
Aguilera advertisements. Write a research proposal for conducting a research to verify this
statement.

Soft drink industry is one of the fastest growing industries in India. The basic idea behind the
rapid growth of this industry is due to following reasons:

1. The great corporate war between Coke & Pepsi, who left no stone unturned,
for monopolizing the India Soft Drink market.

2. The basic ideology of these two giants is to promote soft drinks as a food
item in India hold.

3. The long hot summers in India have increased the consumption of soft
drinks.
Problem Identification
The non-alcoholic carbonated or non-carbonated drinks have reached the mature market; Coca-
Cola Co. has to develop strategies in order to remain in the strong competitive market.

Need and Significance

Coca-Cola Company had difficult challenges in India and was not treated similarly to the local
businesses. Coca-Cola faults and wrongdoings are documented and approved, which obliged the
company to react according to international norms and business ethics. Coca-Colas values call
for a leadership that have the courage to shape a better future and an integrity to be real
Coca-Cola Company had situations in India that clearly contradict with its mission and values.
These situations require the right leadership to acknowledge them, responsibly act to correct the
wrongdoings and set up measures to prevent its reoccurrence. The study will produce a set of
recommendations to achieve the above requirement and recommend that Coca-Cola either pay to
remedy the damages or recuperate the harm done in India.
Objectives of study
To study the promotional policies of the beverage companies on the outlets lying at various
highways..
To study the market share of beverages companies on outlets at various highways .
Hypothesis
1. Coca cola is adopting significantly more aggressive marketing policies than other beverages
companies .
2. Visibility of various softdrinks at outlets lying at various highways suggests that coca cola is
the leader in terms of market share.

Research methodology
RESEARCH DESIGN:
Descriptive and expolatory.
Sampling technique:
I will design a relevant survey sheet which will be filled on the outlet.
Sample size:
I will cover approximately 100 outlets.
Data collection:
Primary data :
primary data collect through Newspaper, Magazines T.V., Internet.
Secondary Data :
I will collect the secondary data through questionnaire.
