Introductory Paragraph

thethesisstatement,akindofminioutlineforthepaper:ittellsthereaderwhatthe
essayisabout.Thelastsentenceofthisparagraphmustalsocontainatransitional
"hook"whichmovesthereadertothefirstparagraphofthebodyofthepaper.

Thefirstparagraphofthebodyshouldcontainthestrongestargument,most
significantexample,cleverestillustration,oranobviousbeginningpoint.Thefirst
sentenceofthisparagraphshouldincludethe"reversehook"whichtiesinwiththe
transitionalhookattheendoftheintroductoryparagraph.Thetopicforthis
paragraphshouldbeinthefirstorsecondsentence.Thistopicshouldrelatetothe
thesisstatementintheintroductoryparagraph.Thelastsentenceinthisparagraph
shouldincludeatransitionalhooktotieintothesecondparagraphofthebody.
