1. State some of the issues faced by the counsellors at school.

The ratio of trained counsellor to the amount of students in a school. There are not as many
trained counsellors in schools, whereas the estimated students for a normal, primary school is
around 1000 students. For instance, if there is only 2-3 counsellors in the school and they
have to deal with 1000 students who are also their client in giving them advice of guiding
them in their education or career choice, then it may take up their time in giving effective
counselling session. Moreover, trained counsellors are not as keen in working in a school due
to the lack of incentive from the government. Furthermore, if teachers were to be the
counsellors at school, they might not be able to give proper counselling and guidance as
compared to the trained counsellors. This is because teachers may not have the time or
interest to undergo proper counselling training. Also, teachers are faced with a dilemma with
some parents who are demanding to see progress in their childrens academic performance
instead concerning about their emotional, social, physical or spiritual wellbeing. Teachers may
give up all together in putting effort to counsel and guide the students. Therefore, the issues
arises with the insufficient amount of trained counsellors and with teachers workload
