How will you check to see if the standard(s) is/are met?

The children will be able to compare and count how many of each colored fish there are.

Introduction: ENGAGE AND EXPLAIN:

I will introduce with the book

Then I will hold up a felt piece fish and drop it in the penguins mouth (all surprised) to give them
a idea of what we are going to do.

Procedure : TEACH, MODEL, and help the children EXPLORE:

First I will Read the book One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish
Next I will have the children taking turns rolling the dice or spinner.
Then I will have the children count out the fish by the number they got on the dice they rolled.
Finally I will have the children feed all their fish to the penguin.

Closure/Transition: REVIEW and CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING

I will have each child count out 1 group of colored fish. The younger ones might need me to count
with them.
Modifications made for individuals:

Two of the younger toddlers in the classroom might need my help counting with them or pointing
to the objects to count.

2 Extension Activities:
Sorting the fish by colors
Graphing many different colored fish there are

Student Self Evaluation & Reflection:

The activity/lesson went well because..

This activity went well with the toddlers because they were very engaged in the activity. This
activity works on many of skills such as Math, motor skills, and color recognition.

Were children able to play the game as you intended? How do you know?

Yes the game was played how it was supposed to be played. The toddler did some counting with
me at first but then they were having more fun feed and taking out the fish from the penguin.

What was the childs reaction to the game?

The children were so excited to feed the penguin fish. They didnt really like counting they just
wanted to feed the animal.

What changes need to be made to make it more successful?

I would probably give the board more support for the younger kids. The children had a lot of fun
with it.
