For auditing, I have been assigned to do working paper and report. Before prepare

working paper, I need to study the ledger first. Any queries regarding the ledger must

be sent to the company to make me more understand and clear about the data

given. There are certain sections in the working paper including fixed asset and

investment, inventories, debtor and other receivables, bank and cash balances,

creditors and accruals, long term liabilities, taxation, profit and loss item, statutory

record and shares. All these section must be done based on data in Excel. Any

supporting documents such as grants of assets, hire purchase and rental agreement

that must be authorised by related person.

7
After I have done working paper, I need to proceed with the report which contains

corporate information, report of the directors, and statement by directors, statutory

declaration, independent auditors report, income statement, balance sheet, cash

flow statement, statement of changes in equity and notes to the financial statements.

allowances and reconciliation statement of asset and qualifying expenditure.

After that, I filled up Form C and R using e-filling for Elmix Trading, Perniagaan Lee

Chu Tai, Tan Yu Leong, and Sacredlegend Cheng Chih.

3.0 SWOT ANALYSIS

SWOT analysis is a strategic planning method used to evaluate the Strengths,

Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats involved during my practical training.

8
SWOT analysis is one of the most complicated things to do but plays a very significant

part in our personal progress. The personal skills SWOT analysis helps me to identify

strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats during my internship.

The company can then assess the results to decide if they can use their strengths to

take advantage of the opportunities and introduce the new system. After assessing the

results, they may decide that the weaknesses and threats need to be addressed before

they can make any changes to their existing product line.

STRENGTHS

The strengths in this firm are an experienced staff and low overhead expenses. They

also have good relationship with customers and good internal communication. When I

have a problem in completing my task, they are willing to help. They also have a unique

service offering or proprietary software that their competitors in Pontian do not have

such as UBS software and Brass Tax software.

WEAKNESSES

The weakness is the seasonal nature of the tax business during January until June.

This makes it financially challenging to maintain a full-time, year-round staff. the

company is lack of expertise because they takes many of practical student to do the

9
works. Currently the staff are struggling to meet deadlines client and we have too much

work.

OPPORTUNITIES

They need develop new systems that add value to their services so that it make the job

faster. There are not many competitors in Pontian, so this is an opportunity to the

company to develop more systems that makes the job done efficient and effective to

attract more clients. They also have their own loyal client.

THREATS

One of the biggest threats to small accounting practices is easy-to-use online software

that makes it easier for individuals to prepare their own taxes. Small accounting firms

also face competition from the nationally recognized large companies. They establish

credibility for their firm and demonstrate that provide a more personal touch. they need

to provide paper shredder to dispose the past document that do not used anymore. This

may protect the confidential information of company and client

3.0 CONCLUSION

During my six months of practical training, I have gained a lot of knowledge and get a

good picture of the career opportunities available in the accounting and auditing
10
profession. This internship exposed me in the real-life working environment that needed

lots of confident to face it. In addition, my soft skills had also improved to the upper level

that I could gave a credit to myself. My communication skills were getting better as I

learnt to inquire for any problems to the expertise or senior staffs for their guidance.

Time management was also an essential part that I learnt during the training. When my

supervisor assigned a task on me, she did not tell a specific duration to finish instead of

myself had to manage the time properly. The main reason for not exactly the time for

trainees was because trainees might study the tasks first prior to perform them.

The internship program was an interesting program that should applied to all course

because students would gain more from the training. Students could also apply the

theories learnt into practices that might strengthen the knowledge. The six months

duration was not a long period but it was the time for students to develop themselves

into real-life working environment with spirited and worth. Sometimes, students been

scolded for the mistake they did was a common situation and they should not take that

for granted. Being scolded mean to teach and correct them from making the same

mistake. As a student, the internship program has shined my skills and showed me a

good path for my interest in the next job engagement. Now, I was able to make a clear

choice in hunting for a job.
