03/07/08 Excavators - Swing Assembly Lubrication

Models Affected: All DX and Solar Excavators

Issue : Prevention of Premature Swing Bearing Seal Wear and Failure

In an effort to minimize premature swing bearing wear and/or failure, we recommend that the
following lubrication standards be observed:

1. Grease swing bearing every 50 hours of

operation. Using a standard grease
gun, insert 2-3 pumps. Rotate upper
structure 90 and lubricate until a full
turn is completed.
2. Grease swing gear every 500 hours of
operation. Using a standard grease
gun, insert 2-3 pumps. Rotate upper
structure 90 and lubricate until a full
turn is completed.
CAUTION: Over greasing of swing
gear will cause premature failure of
the swing gear seal.
3. Do not utilize high pressure lubrication devices and do not overfill the grease cavity.
