Dalia Suter Name: THE HEIGHT OF THE FLAGPOLE: CLINOMETER METHOD“ A cclinometer is a tool that is used to measure the angle of elevation, or angle from the ground, in a right- angled triangle. You can use a clinometor to measure the height of tall things that you can't possibly reach the top of, flag poles, buildings, trees, etc. The diagram shows what the assembled clinometer will look. like when laying an a flat surface, When using it, the straw will be on the top. You will need two people: one to look through the straw and site the top of an object and one to read the degrees that the string makes with the protractor. In order for the clinometer to be most effective, you are going to use right angled isosceles triangles. 11) Draw a diagram representing the right angled isosceles triangle and label the following: Distance from you to the base of the object 4 Unknowm height of the object ‘The missing angle measures in the triangle > Hint: what must the angle measures be in a right angled isosceles triangle?
